For all those who fly to the Dominican Republic frequently, American Airlines is running special to the Domican Republic (possibly all the Carribean ) for 25,000 miles. So your trip can cost you as little as $64 (tax charge).

And if you don't have a frequent flyer account with American Airlines and you fly all the time........ PLEASE open an account. Its free and it takes less than 5 minutes to do so. 1-800-433-7300 American Airlines telephone number. Everytime you fly you accumulate mileage, when you reach to a certain amount you qualify for free airline tickets within the U.S., Carribean and Euorpe. Can't beat that.

If you travel I think before 6-5-02 you can travel for 25k miles instead of 30k in their frequent flyer program American Advantage.

I went this month on FF'y miles and am going Christmas day on FF'r miles. I also have enough miles for another trip.

If anyone is interested you can fly from JFK to Puerto Plata on 5-2 or 5-3 and return on the 6th or the 7th for 299 plus taxes or 392.42 round trip. I just booked one of these bad boys.

If you look on the AA.com website it also explains that with as little as 15,000 mile and paying something like $299 you can fly roundtrip to the carribean. You have to call a 1-800 # to use your miles for this trip. I am going to investigate further as I am looking for cheap airfare for the end of august and early septmeber. If anyone has any leads please let me know. I think it is a bit early to book the flight, there are always deals out there.

I also would prefer NOT to fly American as I have never had an on time flight with them going to and from the DR. There is ALWAYS a mechanical problem of some sort, and this last trip we had to have a passenger removed from the plane (while we were on the ground fixing the overflowing toliet) because he yelled at the flight attendent because we were already two hours delayed. The captain wanted him off the plane and he refused to leave which caused further delay. The flight crew called it "air rage" . I say he had everyright to be pissed off, but he should have controlled himself.

So anyone know of any deals please lets post them.

Thanks!

American is the best airline serving POP. Been there 7 times in the last year, never late one moment and never one problem.

I would fly any airline that is cheaper but haven't found one yet either.

I just booked for next weekend fri-tues on AA for 311.50 including tax and I picked up my ticket today.

Get an AA Advantage number and sign up for their weekly web deals. Emailed every tues or Weds.

I fly out of NY JFK airport but there are deals from Miami and Puerto Rico many times also. I could have gone to Haiti for 50- bux less but figured Golo would roast me if I did:)

Continental flies to POP from EWR (Newark) but I prefer to fly AA to keep the FF'r miles coming. Did my trip last month on ff miles and doing Christmas on FF' miles. I have enough for another still in my account but want to save it. I have 800 dollars in vouchers by getting bumped 2x after Samana Santa. Used 311 of one to go next weekend.

Aeromar is the least expensive NY (JFK) to POP these days when I do a search on Travelocity.

I also have another trip based on miles from a credit card to DR. that I can use at any time also.

Regards

Another Airline

FYI to all readers:

Aeormar Airlines will begin flying to Puerto Plata and Santiago from New York beginning May 24, 2002.

I have not flown this airline yet, but I intend to do so. Check out the airfare prices, I'm sure they will try to compete with AA.

Their website is in Spanish only. I wish them luck and an English choice on their sight. They will be cheaper and then AA will lower their price until they go out of business. That is the Walmart Way:)

Anything for a cheaper flight!

Look at the pictures of the aircraft on the website and then ask yourself why there may be a cost advantage over AA.

A lot of the planes I fly on are 40+ years old. I have to tell you that it doesn't bother me. Hell I saw a new Concord and Airbus go kaplooie.

If I was able to converse with their website and they were cheaper I would fly the heck out of them.

You pays your money and you takes your chances.

You are right on about the web site though deader than a monkey rump right now - I had seen the little bit they had live but no schedules, on line booking prices or English.

FAA seeks $247,500 penalty against American AirlinesAmerican Airlines, a unit of AMR Corp. (NYSE:AMR - news), offered the oxygen generator to Federal Express (NYSE:FDX - news) on Aug. 21, 2001, for transport from New York City's John F. Kennedy International Airport to American's maintenance and engineering center in Tulsa, Oklahoma, the FAA said. AMR is based in Fort Worth, Texas.

A chemical oxygen generator is considered to be hazardous material by the FAA.

"The package containing the generator was not properly classed, described, packed, marked, labeled and in condition for shipment when it was offered to Federal Express," the FAA said, adding that American personnel in Tulsa discovered the violation.

An American Airlines spokesman was not immediately available for comment. The airline has 30 days to respond upon receipt of the enforcement letter.

A shipment of oxygen generators was blamed for the fiery crash of a ValuJet Airlines DC-9 jet into the Florida Everglades in 1996, killing 110 people aboard
