The popular Sosua 10 run/walk is coming on Sunday, 13th of October. This is a great event that attracts people of all ages and I have participated in the past. The run has always been within the town limits, from Pedro Clisante to Playa Chiquita to Alejo Martinez. However, this year there is a new route that take the participants along the main highway from the old carwash near the entrance to La Mulata to Playa Laguna to Sosua Ocean Village then back out onto the highway.
We have one highway on the north coast and instead of keeping the run within the town limits, they have decided to now use part of the highway. The road is dangerous enough without having to worry about participants on the roads! I can only assume that they will close one lane of traffic but I can just imagine trucks, guaguas, carritos and others doubling up because they are too impatient to wait. One would hope that Amet will do a responsible job controlling the traffic but you know full well there will be idiots trying to pass. This is very poor planning and also irresponsible of the city to allow this when it can be held within the town limits in a much safer environment.
As mentioned above, I love this event and it is hugely successful but I fail to see the need to take it onto the only highway on the north coast! If you live in the area, stay off road on the morning of the 13th of October!!!
