There are great bingo tournaments at the Jolly Roger.
A guy once told me that Jolly Roger is for whites only. Any truth to that? It's hard to imagine such a place would exist in this day and age, especially in a tourist area with many black residents. I heard also that the place burned down sometime back and was rebuilt.

I've never been, but I seriously doubt it. There are some places on PC that just don't have the vibe that the JetBlue crowd would be interested in - like not playing any rap music for example.

Women who frequent JR are past the prime street walking age, if fact many are almost past the walking-at-all age.

Some of the attitudes coming out on this thread are a little worrying. As Alter Ego said, a man has died. The majority of the discussion seems to be on what his ex-partner looks like, poor man who only managed to pull an "ugly" woman. And a "street urchin". I think I am alone in saying that the guy was not good looking himself.

The reality is that its these kinds of attitudes to women that tend to land men in trouble. If you think that the only value a Dominican woman has is what she looks like (or maybe what she does in bed), and if you are happy to describe a woman as a street urchin, clearly you have little respect for women. And the nice women who are looking for a good man will pass you by.

I have a great deal of respect for my close Dominican friends, and I know it goes both ways. We do a lot for each other, I trust them 100%, I know them as people, not for what they look like but for who they really are, their hopes, their annoying habits, their passions, the lot. The people who have made a real success of their life here and their relationships with Dominicans - like Alter Ego, like Bob Saunders - have similarly talked about the fact that they respect and love their partners, and they regard them as equals.

I think 'the attitude that landed this man in trouble' was the woman's attitude, not his. He likely supported her and it just wasn't enough for all she desired.
Who here has not had a relationship end badly and yet we don't cut the throat of our partner. Why ?
Because we know and were taught from day one it is wrong.

Maybe she can use the battered woman defense - sure has been used in lot's of other successful cases

I dont want to quote the above poster , because I cant even believe she is defending this Street rat who killed this man ,,
but I was NOT talking about her Looks ( and other womens looks ? good grief that is REACHING ) I was clearly talking about how Obviously EVIL she is on the inside, and this man sadly could not figure it out , or get out .

Her outward Looks are the LEAST of her Problems and short comings ,
I dont know HOW that can possibly be misunderstood .. I thought her EVIL Sould was quite obvious to everyone here, but I guess not .

I get what MariaRubia is saying. That not all cross culture marriages are disasters, and per some of our members, actually have enjoyed many years of marriage "success" and overall happiness. And that's a special thing.

That said, the majority of these adventures end up in utter failure. The majority cases, one partner is bled dry of cash and assets. Many cases end in Domestic violence and ultimately, death.

There was a member who once had a mantra something like "never marry down". My personal experience with that is that it's very good advice.

If you want to argue that there is some type of misogyny in these comments, maybe you're right, I can't argue about that, BUT that's besides the point.
That woman is a conniving, manipulative KILLER and she knew exactly what she was doing, the attitude of foreign men towards Dominicanas has nothing to do with this.
Because you and I both know she targeted him precisely because he was a foreigner and she thought foreigners are that gullible. And that she could get away with it.
You know she likely would have never committed such a murder against a fellow Dominican.

Manipulating and killing unsuspecting foreigners because they are unsuspecting foreigners is just as bad if not WORSE as the objectifying attitude of some foreign men towards Dominicanas as you described.

"He's an old frail gringo with no family in DR. Who's gonna claim him anyway? I'm his only "family" here and he is gullible. Easy kill. So let me hire these sicarios and get rid of him -- and no one will suspect any foul play on part because I didn't actually kill him".

I doubt she would ever come up with such a plan if her spouse was a Dominican knowing how Dominicans have close family ties on top of having street smarts in general.

I disagree.
Did Bob, A.E or my dear friend Zoom marry a barrio rat or their local tigure?

Had they I think we can both agree they could have ended up in a similar situation so please stop trying to sugarcoat the truth. Thousands of the women here behave like absolute animals and should be treated as such.

It sucks reading about gringas/ gringos getting killed by their spouses or significant others and no one deserves to to die this way but we know what happens when we lay down with dogs.

Quite a few people I know grew up in barrios. They are not rats. I just hate this attitude that just because someone is poor they are a rat. For goodness sake look at the way that some rich people behave on this island. To me defrauding an education or healthcare budget makes you far more of a rat.

Regarding my comments about mysogeny if you go back to the first page of this thread there were several comments about how ugly this woman was. As if what she looks like it at all relevant to her murdering her husband.

To be fair, she does look like a tweaker

Your words. Not mine.
I've lived in two different barrios within this country.
It has everything to do with their behavior and nothing
to do with their income so please do not attempt to
conflate the two while at the same time accusing me
of something I would never do, say or think.

I am almost positive no one here is saying she is a low life rat because she is poor, under privileged and does not have an Ivey league education. They are trashing her because she is a killer that preyed on a vulnerable adult. She killed her spouse, not an abusive moto guy that is pimping her out and forcing her to sell drugs

It's a murder case for Pete's sake. We are entitled to all the commentary we see fit as long as it fits within DR1 board rules.
Unfortunately we have a a few factions of members, like self appointed Karen's, will kill us with false altruism. The other are the intolerants who resort to insult, threat and yes, crying, when they read an opinion contrary to how they feel the world should operate.

That's said, this site clearly enjoys a long history of success because of readership I assume. People are reading and enjoying the content. That's what it's all about no? Why would you put up a site where no one views your content? I, myself enjoy a very good positive reaction ratio. Folks read and react to my content. There are others, not so much. They are the intolerants, spewing vitriol and crying in their beer because they don't like how someone worded something or don't agree with others' points of view.

Let's keep up the good work. Let the posts fly, humor, sarcasm, seriousness all of it, because evidently someone is reading and enjoying the content!

Buenas noches.

Buenas noches.

I completely agree that the whole point of this forum is to have differences of opinion. I voiced mine and managed to do so without having a go at you.

I have a great deal of Dominican friends of limited means and will always object to anyone who suggests that all poor Dominicans are trash, or hookers. And I will always object to anyone who uses terms like "barrio rat". If this makes me a "self appointed Karen" in your opinion then so be it.

Really? Without having a go at me? Lol. Ok, well, here's my take:

Im very pleased you are a person of integrity. I'd like to remind you as the other poster did, no one has suggested the things you mention above as being associated with poor people. We are discussing a murderer. Murderers get profiled. Get over it.

I really only come from a middle class family, and I've been married twice into Dominican poverty. Didn't work out so well, but we learn and move on.

I once sought help for some personal problems with great success. One of these issues was called a chip on my shoulder. There are means and solutions. If you wish I welcome you to pm me!
