Rubio check this out about CLARO:
I had CLARO DSL for several years at 5 Mbits/s . That was the fastest speed possible because of my distance from the central station in Cabarete. Then the speed dropped to about 3 Mbits/s and was not reliable. I called CLARO to ask why the speed is not what I pay for. They responded that I am too far from the central station to get 5 Mbits/s. I asked them if they moved the central station and the answer was no. I told them that I had not moved and had been getting 5 Mbits/s for years and only recently did the speed drop. They repeated that I was too far from the central station. You can't fix stupid. The next day I changed to a cable modem with Cable Del Norte.
Cable del Norte has been OK. However, about 2 months ago, something changed on the Cable Del Norte system and now they are blocking some streaming video. Not all streaming video, just a very, very specific kind of streaming video that I cannot even understand how they can isolate from other streaming video, but they do. The technician insisted they did nothing intentional to block such services, but something clearly changed that does block it and others besides myself have also complained. I have tried VPN's to overcome the blockage to no avail.
So I called CLARO, ugh, to see when I can get fiber optic service. They told me in a month or two. The DR equivalent of manana. So, maybe in a couple of months or maybe in a year, who knows, fiber optic service will be available where I am in Cabarete.
