Are Canadians destroying Cabarete?
The condos I looked at were not new developments, just resales. People that want oceanfront (new), some are willing to pay that price. I think of what my brother paid for his place in Cap Cana. At the time I thought the price was rather high, now not so much.Try

If "destroying Cabarete" is related to price increase, as mentioned in previous posts, it's based on supply and demand, nothing specific to "Canadiens".
I am more concerned about the excessive construction wiping out green zones and taking away the natural appeal of the surroundings.

Canadians do tip, just not 'super' generously. Bob you may be the exception. Maybe that Mountain Air you breathe ?
But OK - they look like lavish spenders when compared to Europeans, especially Germans. A 100 peso tip for Germans is considered reaching deep.
I could tell a story about a certain very wealthy German looking to take my 1,000 peso tip off the table but stopped short when they spotted me watching.

I did read that Canadians are no longer going to FL, something to do with leadership in the USA. So more of them might
be investing in Cabarete. Certainly more Americans are finding Florida too expensive and are coming to the DR.
Mostly Punta Cana I would guess but more are in Cabarete all the time.
Even if Canadians are big tippers they are generous in other ways, sharing dinners, helping charities and most importantly they care for animals and take a lot of abandoned dogs to Canada or make space to welcome them into their homes in DR.
So I don't see them as a detriment to DR. Certainly they are a benefit.
Cabarete's problems are that the highway runs through the town.
But they need to stay off motos. 2 Canadian friends were in serious moto accidents and two American friends were killed.
