2 years , no matter how many People were killed ? or 2 years per Death.Negligent Homicide only carries 2 years in jail in the DR
I would run like hell if I thought I would have to spend a single night in a Dominican jail! There are not to many attractive Places to hide if you have an International Arrest Warrant.
Think about North Korea or Venezuela etc. Regardless the Sentence he might get, he will be out in three years or even less.
Not worth it to run away.
Understandable, but where would you go? I'm thinking of the ex president of Honda(?) that escaped from Japan in a large double bottom box,I think he went to Switzerland?I would run like hell if I thought I would have to spend a single night in a Dominican jail!
I think it was Nissan and I believe he went to somewhere in the MIddle-East. Personally, I would prefer to do that than spend a night in a Dominican jail.Understandable, but where would you go? I agree with Manuel 101. He’s not your average Dominican. I highly doubt he will spend a long time, if any, in a DR jail and certainly not your typical DR prison hellhole. His connections and wealth will benefit him as they have benefitted many other rich Dominicans in legal predicaments. His lawyers will try to spread the liability among the contractors hired to work on the roof and the government for lack of inspection standards. They could prolong the case for years which is normal operating procedure for DR courts. The fact that he returned and stayed is an indicator of his level of confidence in his fate. Makes me almost believe the fix is in.I would run like hell if I thought I would have to spend a single night in a Dominican jail!
You wouldn't make it off the shuffleboard court before you were tased.I would run like hell if I thought I would have to spend a single night in a Dominican jail!
I've actually been an inmate in Rafey in the past, it was harder on me mentally than physically. You wouldn't make it off the shuffleboard court before you were tased.
I was involved in reporting the Tucanos scandal to the press and got set up, to make a long story short.
Not sure if jail is appropriate for him. On one hand, it theoretically can act as a deterrent for other negligent business owners. But on the other hand jail should be for violent people who will probably reoffend. He doesn't fit the latter scenario. We get to wait and see. I doubt he will not regret his decisions and I hope he is held accountable. IMO he is neglegent. Either he knowingly chose not to properly maintain his property or was neglegent in accepting his contractors advice without verification that it was correct or some similar scenario. Regardless he is at fault and I hope he does not get to avoid most of the blame and responsibility. He deserves to be made an example and punished harshly both criminally and in civil proceedings
