atracar or atacar?

Would not atracar have to do with attraction? Isn't atacar the word for attack in Spanish elsewhere? Have I been getting it wrong all these years. For sure the word used locally for attack is atracar, but is that normal for Spanish?

Atraer would be attraction. Atracar is when you steal from someone or hold up a business.

Me atrae esa persona - I'm attracted to that person.
Me atracaron ayer - I was robbed/held up yesterday.
