Just prove me wrong, gorgon.

Make it stick.

I never ran. It was YOU that went all "parsey" in the illegitimacy-->poverty issue. I posted stat after stat, many gleaned from the US Census and scholarly papers.

I especially liked your "black female PhD's having illegitimate spawn by choice" as an example. Quite the effort. Classic gorgon. Maybe worth a revisit...:cheeky:

You just don't like the connection.

with the risk of hijacking the thread, you claim that illegitimacy is a PREDICTOR of poverty. i say that your statement is rubbish. i used the example of well educated, financially stable women, who choose to have children without husbands to debunk your nonsense. you see, cobraboy, a PREDICTOR cannot point to diametrically opposite results, if all other variables are equal. if it does, it is not a predictor. i worked with two instances. one in which illegitimacy was at a high rate among poor people, and one in which it was at a high rate among financially stable people. all we have, from that set of realities, that illegitimacy can COEXIST with both poverty, and relative wealth. in using what you consider to be logic, in the case of the well off women, maybe you would conclude that illegitimacy is a predictor of stable financial circumstances. secondly, you are yet to show me whether or not illegitimacy caused the poverty issues, or the bearers of illegitimate children were poor BEFORE they had kids. care to trot out the data you are alluding to?

Very wrong. Se had her own followers and she made strange rules for their conduct as any sect or cult does, and I know your sarcasm wasn't directed at me this time, but this is a public forum, and if you don't want general comments take your fight to the PM level.

What rules would those be?

no, cobraboy, i only react that way to hypocritical loudmouths, who operate with double standards, who have no abiding sense of right and wrong, but are really little more than shallow moral opportunists. you cry foul when i make reference to saunders's wife, but find it perfectly acceptable when saunders calls me by a racial epithet. i did not see too much outrage from you there. you did not seem to see anything less than even handed when i got banned, and he went unscathed. save the high ground for those who can ascend it, cobraboy. as to the little matter of running for mama....i might have done so, maybe i still do, and maybe i will , in the future. rest assured, you will not be the reason.

Excuse me, I got censored and banned for asking you if you fit the description of a GR. Then I posted the definition from the Urban dictionary which gave a definition that was color and racially neutral. You chose to see it as a racial epithet because you see everything through a racial filter, or at least you choose to when your statements have no legs. Stop feeling like you're special and get treated different. Only CC gets treated special, Tambo tambien.

Blah blah blah

More parsing.

One can chart "predictors" on a Bell Curve, brainiac, as probabilities.

That is basically what I did.

I didn't say "CAUSE." Ever once. I said "predictor", meaning in general, one can "predict" poverty when one sees illegitimacy.

You went into a black female PhD illegitimate diatribe. I pointed out the the ONE group that has under 10% illegitimacies are COLLEGE GRADS...go up the ladder to PhD's and that number shrinks...go up to BLACK FEMALE PhD's, and the number shrinks even more, like a fraction too small to accurately determine a standard deviation. Yet you used such a bizzare number as proof? And now you still give me grief?

You just don't like the conclusion. Maybe you have some illegitimate spawn of your own and it's transference.

But your POINT was I somehow ran. Which is total bullspit. It's YOU that bent and parsed to cover an incredibly weak argument from which there was no saving face retreat.

Oh God, this video is awesome, thank you so much for posting this!

Which one, the first foolish one, or the second stupid one. Amazing the fear progressives (an oxymoron) have of this dead woman who really has and had very little sway over anyone of power or over legions of followers. She had some intelligent well thought out ideas, and some hairbrained ones. Yet she is feared by those on the left, and some on the right as well. Perhaps she was on to something, if so many fear her ideas.

War zone? cb, you know NOTHING about war zone. Had a little High School "basketball injury," which kept you away from 8 weeks of Basic Training but not bad enough to keep away from playing college and pro football?????????????????????

That sh!t doesn't add up.

You do better when you defend Ayn Rand's crap.
Actually, Bentot, my draft status was 1-Y. I couldn't have enlisted if I wanted to. In fact I tried emlisting for the AFROTC program after flunking the service academy physical and was also rejected. Severed ligaments, Bentot.

Yes, I also found it odd that the injury that kept me from the military also lat me play college and pro ball. I appealed the initial and second physical, as well as the draft board. It was explained that my injury, if reoccurred-like twisting the ankle on patrol, for example-I would put other troops in jeopardy because of the "leave no soldier behind" doctrine.

1-Y meant children & pregnant women first. It's just a click before 4-F. But I doubt you'd know unless you were draft eligible in the US at the time.

On an athletic team there are trainers and doctors and medical personnel just feet away in a controlled environment.

My life's ambition at the time was to become an Air Force pilot. I later achieved half the dream, but the wrong half.

horse crap. one can predict poverty when one sees illegitimacy? really? so then, if illegitimacy rates are rising, then it must mean, using your "logic", that poverty rates are rising, right cobraboy? so, fork over the data that show that poverty rates among blacks has been ever increasing, along with illegitimacy rates. i am sure you are aware that illegitimacy among blacks has been rising steadily since the 60s. so, genius, tell me how it is that poverty rates have been falling, within the same demographic? secondly, you are yet to show the linkage, whether poverty causes illegitimacy, or the other way around. explain to me how it is that the rate of illegitimacy among white women who lived below the poverty line one year before having an illegitimate child is 44%, while among white women who lived above the poverty line during the same period, the number is 6%? you cannot win this one with testosterone and bully boy tactics. you scare no-one. give me some answers, and stop giving me parsley.

Um, this is the "Clown Bin."

Personally, I thought it was pretty funny, and wasn't intended as a scathing critique on ole girl's, eh, "philosophy."

trust me , it is not worth revisiting. i take your response to mean that you cannot do any better than that. noted.
Not at all.

The topic is boring. I said my piece and you threw up a bunch of poop against the wall hoping some would stick. I have nothing else to say.

Black female PhD's with bastard children to counter the basic premise of predictability? Seriously?

But it's MUCH more important to affirm your beliefs about the nobility of illegitimacy and lack of societal consequences.

Bob, I think they are both funny, the first one more so than the second. I am not an Ayn Rand Connoisseur and have not read any of her books since middle school. Nor have I read the battle that has been raging on this post. I just think the videos are funny.

It is reasonably humorous, if you like sophomoric humor, but as far it's intension unless you are the producer how would you know the intent. The intent of the OP is obvious.

nobody made a value judgement about the relative merits of illegitimacy. i understand your sophomoric attempts to introduce a straw man into the discourse, given the fact that your argument has less than zero merit. you have made no attempt to establish whether or not illegitimacy is a byproduct of poverty, or the other way around. you have made some simplistic Charles Murray arguments, which do not stand up to scrutiny, nor analysis. i thought that you might have been able to give more scholarly attention to the question, but i guess your strategy is to rely on bluster and hubris. that does not make you right.
