Xoom is great, I use it occasionally to send money to DR, but the exchange rate is appalling.

If you send dollars (don't convert to pesos), the receiver can then get a better exchange rate at the money change places.

I've been using remitly to transfer funds. If you're ok with waiting five business days they only charge $11.99 for sending $2999.

What this proves is that if the exchange rate was lower like say 50 you would get more. 40,000 /50 you would get $800 US instead of 725. As I said earlier and WW said different. You are changing Pesos to US Dollars. NOT Dollars to Pesos. So the higher the number the less you get. So you are not getting Dollars from your account, but Pesos that are changed to Dollars. Comprendi.................................In effect your card does not take Dollars out of the machine, but it robs you on the rate as it forces you to convert your Dollars to Pesos and back to Dollars. This may be above your head, but it is fact.........

Seems like what is happening is beyond YOUR comprehension from all that RollingStone has posted and you still disagree.

You can move funds many ways and it is quick, they provide instant texts and emails re transaction status. I used to use Xoom, but they have some strange policies, take longer, and as AE says, have a tendency to rip you on the exchange.

Use a remittance app to send yourself a transfer by name to the bank of your choice. Pick up at any branch in cash without an account. Basically like Western Union but pickup is done at a bank.
