I found on Sambil website, bank called Banesco has branches in Miami and Ft. Lauderdale and several in SD. Looks like I can do this, I will call the miami office and ask them. Reason: I need bank account so I can use it to pay condo fees, electric, etc. I have good reasons.

I think that you will find that Banesco USA is seperate.. just as Derfish said. The same for Santandar which has branches here and in the US. Banesco USA to buy Flagler Bank branch in Fort Lauderdale - South Florida Business Journal

Banco Popular is supposed to have the best online banking here. But others are catching up.

Wells Fargo has a system to transfer money to BanReservas, Banco Popular and BHD. https://www.wellsfargo.com/international-remittances/central-america-caribbean/

Also, Bank of America cards do not have a fee with the Scotia ATMs .

I read the fine print on the Wells Fargo and they are only cash pick ups in the DR so that will not work for you.

Popular has a series of YouTubes for their internet banking. You will have to check with the office if you can open a dollar account and transfer on line from dollars to pesos account. Then you can use a wire transfer to fill the account. Otherwise, you can get stuck with the bank holding a US check for up to 45 working days.

I opened a pesos, dollar and euro account in Banco Popular and they told me I can't make online transfers from one to the other. The lady that attended me was not the brightest person, so I wouldn't be surprised if it actually is possible, but according to her I have to come to the bank to buy the pesos or euros with my dollars and deposit them in their respective accounts.

You were probably thinking of Banco Popular. They have branches Miami and Puerto Rico that are interchangeable. The offices in the D.R. are completely separate, almost like they are different companies. I think they share the name and the same advertising agency but little else.

From pressure by the USA anti drug money laundering pressure, no bank is allowed to have offices in the USa and normal branch offices outside of the USA. HSBC has offices in Miami as well as New York and London and Medellin Colombia and Panama Cit Panama, but one cannot use them in that manner. There seems to be some special arrangement with Scotia Bank and Canada, but I am quite certain of what I am saying about USA and foreign banks.

Spot on. I've ran into this already and no can do to interconnect accounts. Two different monster although serviced by the same branch, they run parallel to each other when it comes down to business, money and the DR.

I once opened an account with Chase Bank in Ft Lauderdale since i had seen a branch of their bank in Medellin Colombia. I told the bank orificer that I was going to buy a taxi in Colombia for my brother in law and he helped me open the account. In medellin is where I first learned of the USA's international domination. I could only withdraw from the ATM and the limit on each withdrawal was low, though it made a huge bulge in my pocket, at that time Medellin was the most dangerous city in the Western hemispphere. Due to withdrawal limits this went on for 3 days and before I had the $1500 to pay for the car they cut off my card. I had enuff in my regular account to finish the taxi purchase. When I got back I went to talk to the officer and asked what had happened. "Suspicious activity." He told me. I reminded him that I had told him as I opened the account what my intentions were. "Don't you think it would seem suspicious?" He asked me, Did you think it woulkd be so when I told you what I was going to do?" I asked him NO answer. Could he re;ease the rest of my money? No he couldn't, it was the govt that had done it and I'd have to wait. I went into the bank every few days and a full 3 weeks later I told him he had 10 minutes to get my money released or I would start knocking stuff off his desk and security would have to haul me out kicking and swearing. He started to laugh. I shouted "10 minutes asshole." Loud enuff for half the people in the bank to hear. And in less than 10 minutes he was able to get my money available to me.

Same chapter, just different purchases and was Panama for me then.

The only relationship between scotia and BofA is they're both part of the Global ATM Alliance. Transactions are no longer free between the two. There is now a 3% transaction fee.

I believe, Banco Popular, in the DR has the ability to pay some bills through your bank account. What I used to do was have a credit balance in my electric and sat tv accounts that would pay the bills during the period I was gone from the DR.

I phoned Banesco and they said one owner owns all bank branches all over in south but each country are seperate so I cannot access to the accounts if I open here and access in DR, means no atm-fee free, write checks, vice versa... Which means I have to OPEN a account in DR to have my funds access. I think I will go ahead and open account with Banco Popular since they are the best bank or do you have suggestion?

Open up an account with Banco Popular and ask if you can pay bills on line and see what you need to do. Leave a balance in the account when you leave the DR to cover the monthly bills.
