I'm just opening an account with Lopez de Haro. They stress that they are "not a bank for everyone" (basically they only like you if you've got some money) and they don't have any lines in their branches. When I went in there were way more staff available than customers, so maybe it's right. The lady who I am dealing with is incredibly professional and has given excellent service so far.

There are some banks like that, most of them opened during a last few years in DR. More staff than customers inside, exactly. Very nice offices. But for some reason, the only thought that I have when I enter such banks is that sooner or later they will disappear in one day with all their customers money.

I like the BPD in Downtown Center on the third floor. More like a lounge than a bank.

We have an account with them, but they simply don't have enough branches to be convenient if you don't live in the capital, or Punta Cana. One location in Santiago, not much else in the rest of the country.
