The other day I sent a message to Banker Trust (Sosua) telling them their signs did more harm than good for them because the arrows pointed in the wrong direction. Since I sent this well after normal business hours, I was surprised to get an immediate reply. I sent back a tongue in cheek question asking if they worked 24 hours a day. Their reply was serious an contained so much information that I wasn't aware of I am posting it in its entirety. Keep in mind I have no association with Banker Trust other than using its mailing service. But with all the concern about security and the questions about safety deposit boxes, I thought this should be shared with all.
"Thanks for writing us. In answer to your question, we do work 24 hours for our VIP safe deposit clients. As you know, Banker Trust provides safe deposit boxes in different sizes, rental time frames and prices. What you may not know is that we offer VIP service on top of our yearly rentals. For an additional $100 membership fee, the client can have access to their box 24 hours a day, 7 days a week. In addition, they can receive an armed escort from their home or business to our facility and the use of our bullet-proof, fire and water resistant transport attache case. Finally, these clients have access to our contacts in the military, police, legal professions and other resources in times of dire emergencies.
For example, one of our clients had the misfortune to hit a pedestrian on the highway between Sousa and Puerta Plata this weekend. The person struck by the vehicle died at the scene. Our client was taken to "prison" and called us. We secured the appropriate team of professionals to intercede and arranged "bail" through cash the client kept in his safe deposit box (essentially, he gave us the key and written permission to enter his box whereby he could use funds kept there). While traumatic for our client, this situation was handled so as to minimize the potential drama and costs generally characterized in this country by such incidents.
Living in a third world country does present its challenges. Some clients even call our VIP service "hazard" insurance. While we hope no one has the misfortune to be jailed or detained, we are ready and able if called upon to secure our client's freedom and minimize costs and inconvenience associated with any troubling situation. As our motto states, "We Provide Solutions."
