You are very wrong.

That is why I said I "could" be wrong. You would be more knowledgeable than I am. I am kind of out of the loop and was hoping some one would provide some info. You and some others did just that. Thanks

Barcelo Palace Grand Deluxe day pass for $60 is a much better deal

Really? I thought the Sunscape hours were awesome 7am-6pm. You basically get all three meals for $50. Why is the Grand deluxe better? Better, larger resort grounds? Most 10am-6pm means you really only get lunch and snacks.

Well I entered at 9 and left at 7.30 pm. Breakfast is till 10.45 am and dinner starts at 6 or 6.30 pm.

Plus you cannot compare Subscape and a 5*+ Resort as Palace Grand Deluxe. The food selection in Barcelo is huge and you get premium drinks like Black label etc.

What is the food like in Sunscape and what drinks are included?

I can't speak too much to the Sunscape food as I only had breakfast and then just snacked for the rest of the day. I can compare that to the Barcelo Dominican beach. Breakfast was better but how much better can an omelette station be? The snacks were better too. Ample supple of fried chicken. The drinks were the same to worse. I didn't see any top shelf liquor or name brand liquor to speak of. But you are correct if for $10 more and you get better hours, better beach, better resort, top shelf liquor, and probably better food that is a much better deal.

relevant article in DL today regarding the erosion of the beaches in the east of DR:
https://www.diariolibre.com/medioam...luido-en-erosion-de-playas-del-este-KF7373084

according to the specialist quoted the hurricanes are not the biggest issue causing the erosion but rather cold air fronts. another factor is human intervention: violating 60 meters rule and constructing buildings in disregard to climate/geology reports.

I know it's a lot to hope for, but the entire coastline should be mapped by a coastal geomorphology team and a plan based on that should be part of the government's long term tourism development plan. I've explored the beaches for nine winters and have seen beauty and devastation. I like this country a lot and it saddens me to see such a cavalier approach to shoreline development and protection. All for the sake of the almighty dollar.

Something new in the Playa Dorada resorts. Lifestyles staff are allowed to actively recruit new members in some of their competitors  resorts including the one I stay in. Never seen that before. Lifestyles was here but was pushed out by the resort owners in Playa Dorada. Their former leased property is now the Viva Wyndham Heavens Resort. I guess Marco still wants to maintain a presence in Playa Dorada. The golf course is still the big draw.

The second Brugal family owned Blue Jack Tar condo complex is about 60% completed. The first one sold out in no time mostly to well heeled DR elite. It will double their capacity and is linked to the high end Jack Tar resort complex adjacent to it. Heard a few complaints about the former Barcelona now Sunscape. I guess a coat of paint does not a five star make. Quality of food has increased but old buildings are old buildings.
