Your steak cooking on the grill is Not preparing a General Tso Chicken! Please do not try comparing. Dominicans preparing a chinese meal is really dominicans doing the only kind of cooking they know and that is usually what we get…a dominican bad meal. Sky…I just can’t imagine you know much about what chinese food should taste like if you give this restaurant a thumbs up.
Did you eat at the new Chinese restaurant mentioned?

No I have not And currently have no desire to. You see after having just too many really horrible meals in PC…I am very choosy about the quality and vibes I get about where I will leave my pesos. And Asian cooking is such a special wonderful meal that this place filled with dominican cooks just does not sound too appealing. We will continue to enjoy Punta Italia. By the way, you paid over $100 for a single steak at DelFrisco’s?

I understand and was going off what Sky posted,

And yes, you don’t go to Del Frisco’s alone. It’s usually the steak for two or three to share. Unless which I have done so many times you get their off menu Wagyu which so definitely is over the hundred dollars.

Forget the steak, their blue cheese martinis are legendary.

Next time you are in New York, they are on on me.

Hey...
On Friday afternoon I made egg rolls and General Tao chicken for my brother and sister-in-law.
It was a first for me.
lol.
I was going to make my own egg roll wrappers but opted instead for the phyllo pastry route.
Anyways...
They raved about how good everything was and the plates were cleaned.
I was pleased but... I didn't, for a moment, think that it was authentic Chinese food.
And quite frankly, neither did they.
As far as SKY goes, I have no doubt that he is considered, by many on this site, as being the last word on all things Punta Cana.
That may well be but he is not the ONLY word.
I spent more than 15 years of my long life in the area and every now and again have an opinion about PUJ.
On too many occasions SKY has shut me down.
And done so adamantly.
As though I am a bit of a know nothing.
Nobody likes to be treated like that.
I know that he is a valued member of dr1 and I have often enjoyed his comments.
But...
Just saying.

Sounds delish!

Well I DO know a thing or two about Chinese and other Asian foods including Thai and especially Vietnamese. We were there last weekend and it was a delight. There is such a lack of good Asian restaurants in this country. This is a cut above the ones I have been to and totally agree with Sky.

Now if only there was a genuine Vietnamese place 😥

Pretty opinionated considering you haven't even been there. Maybe you've been going to the wrong places if you've had so many really horrible meals in the DR.

Nice to see that someone actually went there and saw the same as I did. You will be hard pressed to find a better Chinese Restaurant ANYWHERE in the DR much less in Punta Cana..............

I will give it a try this weekend. Sound like just what I need. Contrary to Nadie, I have had very few bad meals in Punta Cana and I eat out a lot. I look forward to a meal outside the homestead! It would be nice to hear which ones are bad, so we have an idea.

Next time I am in Punta Cana/Bavaro I am going to try it. Hopefully in the next 2-3 weeks. A bit off-topic but one of my favorite Chinese restaurants in the US has a Mexican cook, go figure. I once asked the owner (he is from Guangzhou) about that, and he said it is more about the ingredients. He said with the right ingredients you can train someone to cook.

Hey - the best chow mein in Sosua IMO is at Stevens and Margots. Both Italian restaurants :ROFLMAO:

While on the topic of restaurants in Bavaro one that is a must to try is a 45 second walk from the Chinese restaurant. Punto Italia, owned and operated by two Italians from Italy. If you exit the Chinese place and head right towards the hwy it is the last place on your right.

And here in addition to the restaurant they have a Deli will ALL goods imported from Italy. And the price on the menu is the one you pay. NOTHING ADDED. Great food and value............

It is our "go to" for pizza and pasta. Very reasonable prices. Mama Luisa has a broader menu and more expensive, but one of our favourites as well.
