Former Dominican ambassador to the United States, economist and historian Bernardo Vega sees a deterioration of the crisis in Haiti with no solution in sight. He writes in Acento that it appears that President Trump, who has expressed reluctance to address the Haitian problem, will only change his mind if thousands of Haitians take to the sea to reach Florida, as happened in 1994 when thousands were even sent to Guantanamo Bay.

Vega mentions that last week, gangs took control of the Malpasse customs post, just west of the Jimani customs post, in the past the main entryway for Haitians and Dominicans, given the proximity to Port-au-Prince, the capital. Today, the area is controlled by the gangs or “terrorists” who charge tolls to allow the mobility of goods.

In recent years, most Dominican exporters have been delivering their goods on this side of the border in...

Mr. Vega needs to understand.
Haiti is no more America's responsibilty than it is that of the Dominican Republic.

The Don is addressing the "Haitian problem" in the following ways.
1. Close the borders.
2. Ban them from entering.
3. Round up the illegals and deport them.

The only difference between America's implementation and the Dominican Republic's is America's border patrol agents are not taking bribes to allow them back in 😮

Oh, brilliant idea, let’s have Trump take over Haiti and dump American taxpayers’ money into that glorious paradise
instead of, you know, fixing potholes or healthcare at home. Because clearly, what the USA really needs is another
nation to mismanage while its own citizens enjoy the luxury of crumbling infrastructure and medical debt.
Priorities, people!

Yeah, clean up your own mess before intervening in others’.

All Trump could do in Haiti is probably making it even worse. Still waiting for the ‘in one day’ solutions of Ukraine and Gaza. Nothing has been accomplished.

What America should do is cut-off all the support for Haiti, Gaza and Ukraine (that was 100 billion with a B unaccouted for according to that little Gremlin) and let the chips fall where they may. We can cut deals with the winners afterwards.

Haiti has been a dumpster fire since I was in elementary school. Their only shot at ever having a functioning country again is recolonization.

Looks politics have changed from trust and support to a cowtrade. However, what these 3 conflicts have in common are parties whose only goal is expansion, there will be no deals to be made or followed.

Russia wants to Expand, Israel wants to stay the same size, and Haiti just want to survive. Russia/Ukraine requires compromise and it is possible. Might require the death of Putin though. Israel is fighting an ideology. Haiti needs a mano duro, and a ruthless one that has no problem with lining gang leaders up against a wall and, shooting them.

All impossible ‘solutions’ that will not happen. Putin wants to expand to former USSR territory Israel will annexate Gaza and the Westbank, Haitian gangs will expand further into Haiti.

Judea and Samaria are part of Israel, where do you think the world Jew came from and they sure as hell don't want Gaza. Where are you getting these crazy ideas.

Not my ideas; Israeli ideas. Look up Smotrich’s plans. Judea and Samaria are occupied territory which are not internationally recognized as Israel. I wish you were better informed, therefore and because this is going off topic I’ll leave this.

Netanyahu says war will continue until all parts of Gaza under Israeli control - just google that if you don't realize it - That was clear to me from day 1 of Israel invading Gaza. Israel will finish the job underway and keep Gaza and recolonize Gaza. Some nice ocean front land there. Why would they ever let their enemies return to it?

Arms makers want the war in Ukraine to go on forever. They are not willing to give up the money.

Haiti has no solution. The DR must do all it can to protect itself. The USA is not going to get involved with something so insignificant to its interests and no feasible way to improve.
