best calling card from nyc

ok...i FINALY booked my flight for feb 24!!!!!!!!!!!!

I have emailed my usual hotel...but i want to call and make sure things are cool as i realize that will be a busy week due to carnival.

Can anyone recommend a good calling card to call the SD area? if i call on my home phone it generaly runs be 20 USD....which is crazy.

thanks....i'll be there soon!!!!!!!!!! my one friend is only going for 4 day...me for 9...so i am definitely thinking about doing the bus trip to sosua and taking a plane back to SD if i can budget this all in.

i am SOOOOOOOOOOOOOOOOOO happy right now tho!!!!!!!!!!!!!

It's a crapshoot

If you live near any spanish speaking neighborhoods go to one of the local bodega's. They have $2, $5, and $10 dollar cards. The $2 usually gets me at least 30 minutes, usually more. If you are calling a cell phone it is usually less.

As far as I understand most of these calling card companies are Mob controlled, the "hot" one this week may stink next week. Personally Concon has been good for me lately, you could also try Ta' Buena or any of the others, it really is a crapshoot. For the most part the service is pretty good though and much cheaper than the prices you have been paying.

Thanks ian....i dont live in a latino area...more indian/arab here....but i will look around. My buddy lives up in washington heights....so i can ask him to get a card for me...i dont mind paying a bit for a call...but not 20 bucks for 5 minutes
