I have taken a turn in my blog to reflect thoughts and tribulations of purchasing a piece of property and starting a business in Sosua.

If this interests you check my blog. I hope to provide some insight on what goes into this right from the start.

I hope you enjoy this!

Please only post here in reference to the business in progress and take other questions about the blog to:

If you want to discuss business & Real Estate thoughts or the particular business in my blog post here please.

Also please post feedback on the title of this thread here for discussion. I would love ideas and feedback and this is a great place for it.

Hi! Escott - I always find your Blog informative and funny and it makes me want to get the h**l outta TO might fast for a week of RnR....it's the pictures that realy do it,
sooo. could you perhaps PM me with the info on that spot you have in your recent pictures re Taco Tuesday - as well as anything else you have/know about. I do not like AI's and would rather be in Sosua so I can dive and meet y'all in person. it's been 3 years too long......

Hey Scott, this has the potentail to be your best contribution to DR1 ever. How many folks out there have either inquired or fantisized about starting/operating a business down there. Here is your chance to tell it all....victories/defeats, warts and all. This could be a lot of fun and some valuable info regardless of the direction it takes. Good luck.

Great post! Great idea!
I love the name, and while playing with the words, I thought of Dawn of Quixote. ( instead of at) and thought it gives it an exotic, ambiguous ring.
Good luck!

I bet SankyBanky will be your best commercial tenant!
Some people just feel more comfortable with old fashioned bricks and mortar for Sank' finance.

Hey Tom, thanks for the kind words. Feel free to crosspost it the other site, I am sure Robert won't mind! LOL

I bet they still haven't gotten over my price predictions from a couple of years ago! I love to see Petty People grasp for ways to make me seem all wrong when they don't even know they are alive:)

Glad they are there or I would have nothing to laugh at. We all need some comedy in our lives and they are good providers in that area.

When are you coming back?

Scott,

Good luck in your new venture.

Giselle and I look forward to seeing you in the new surroundings. I can see the help scattering as El Jefe arrives for work in the morning.

So you now own another piece of the rock. That?s great. ?Now the fun begins?. When you bought the place very few people were involved. Now you are going to find that you have friends that you have never met and a lot will want to reach in your pocket.

I am involved in business here and over the past two government?s they have tried to and have gotten a lot from us that has not been warranted. The people here have been born with an inherent belief that when they do something wrong that it is always some one else fault. Than if the do something right they want more of your pie. Either way it cost you more. And the beat goes on and on and on.

Are you crazy you want to multiply this by how many? Rental property ok not to bad. But the Ice cream, The Art Studio, The Bar, The down stairs restaurant, the up stairs restaurant and what else. Your nuts! Been there don that but its fun have fun and good luck.

It's crazy and difficult and I love it more for that.

I agree with everything you say here. I have posted just about everything you have posted here on this board over the years. I have said much of the same many times. Just so you know it is mostly a real estate play for me. I will not be the operator of the restaurant, up or down, I will not be the operator of the Ice Cream Parlor either streetside or restaurant side nor will I be the operator of the office space. My involvement will probably be limited to the Art Gallery which will probably suffer from everything you posted just as much as the others but... What will be will be.

Thanks for sharing your thoughts, I truly appreciate them.
