I have seen several times images of this girl. Always thought she was some European girl that nobody knew, but still had a photo of her. lol

Turns out she is not European, but Dominican from Santiago taken when she was a baby!

I don't want to post a picture of a young child but a good friend's first
granddaughter in Moca is blonde hair with blue eyes. I've met the little
girl's father a few times. Hard working fella from Villa Trina. Tall and light
skinned.

We have lots of blonde kids in our school. Usually, their hair darkens up as they get older, like mine did, but remain very blonde.

Well you can also find many in San Jose de la Matas........and even more in a town west of there with a fitting name of El Rubio.

I know several since I was a kid that were blonde when younger and then their hair turn darker. That still didn’t prevented me from thinking she was some girl from Europe, especially since nobody knew who or from where was she.

One is from the outskirts of SD. She is the type that no one thinks she’s Dominican except other Dominicans, of course. Then there was the issue that many random people never equated her being the mother of her kids. They all came out “looking black” by US standards (due to their father) but with light eyes.

So many different colors and shades with such a plethora of variety. Yet another reason why I love living in the DR.

European?
From which country?
The same story.
Europe extends from Sicily, the Canary Islands (where she would fit in), Crete (not in Nebraska) up to Lapland.
So be more specific please. It is not the USA.

Mr AE was a blonde kid, dark by the time he was in mid teens. A couple of his nieces and nephews were too and a couple never darkened past light brown.

Do you really need to be specific what is meant by European in the DR? Where would the DR and almost all Dominicans be without Spain?

I never thought of that... My wife's grandmother (from the father's side) has always been stubborn calling me "Americano" despite my wife and me repeatedly over the years correcting to "Europeo", so I hope she does not consider me to be Spanish...

Well for me it’s the same as saying :” he looks south-american”.
Ever seen a white Argentino and a Indian mexican?

My wife’s grandmother, who used to be a teacher always corrected people calling me americano.

I have been to Villa Trina to buy furniture many times. One March froze my ass off up the tower. Many light skinned residents. But even my wife had trouble understanding their Spanish. And she is from Villa Tapia. It is a beautiful town and the only place in the DR where I have seen white pines.

In the D.R., even dark-haired foreigners are called rubia/o.

If light-skinned, but a foreigner, then she's a rubia:

<<Ven acá, rublta, dime a ver...>>.
<<¿Ke lo ke, mi rubia?>>.

Are you sure you aren’t colorblind? A visit to the optometrist is a nice suggestion to take.

Or maybe you’re a woman? They are known for disagreeing with men regarding color. If a man says something is blue, they say it’s fuchia fusion a little bit but not a lot nice but not so nice blue-ish… Like he said, blue. ;)
