Boom in medical tourism in DR

The Dominican Association of Medical Tourism reports that in 2022, some 270,000 tourists visited for health care. Of these, around 135,000 came for dental care, 40,000 for plastic surgery and the difference mainly for other surgical procedures.

The Dominican Association of Medical Tourism (ADTS) says medical tourists have brought around US$1.3 billion to the country, or around RD$72 billion. The revenues are up 47% when compared to the previous year.

The Ministry of Tourism seeks to promote more medical tourism visitations. Medical facilities are located in the main cities and tourism destinations, enabling visitors to come for health care reasons enjoy the good weather and attractions.
