Dominican ambassador to Brazil, Patricia Villegas said that on 8 April 2021 the Brazilian Senate approved the Visa Elimination Agreement between Brazil and the Dominican Republic. The agreement had already passed in the Brazilian Chamber of Deputies and both houses of the Dominican Congress.
The agreement was signed by both governments in 2018. It guarantees the principle of reciprocity and facilitates the travel of nationals of both countries for tourist and business purposes.
Before the pandemic, Brazil was a major source of tourists to the Dominican Republic.
On the same date, the Brazilian Senate also passed the air services agreement that had been signed in 2018 to facilitate air connectivity and the operation of passenger, cargo and courier services between both countries.
