SANTO DOMINGO, Dominican Republic (AP) -- Two buses collided head-on along a highway Thursday in the eastern Dominican Republic, killing nine hotel workers and injuring 35.
The collision occurred near Higuey, 115 miles east of Santo Domingo, according to a National Police statement.
The victims were employed by the Hotel Riu and the Hotel Melia Tropical in the east coast resort of Bavaro Beach, police said.
