History
As background.... I brought a car in with my residency "allowance" and insured it.
After reading here about a foreign license not being valid for accident claims, I started to worry.
I went to Nagua...paid all the fees .... went San Macoris and got stiffed for the test.... "No, not today...come back later...study this manual...." All translated by my friend for me.
This exercise took more than 1/2 a day.... frustrated doesn't express it :ermm:
Another ex-pat told me about the "VIP" route and gave me the number in Sosua.
POOF !! Temporary license = fully insured = good night's sleep.
All done after a shopping spree at Playero.
Mind you, I had the paperwork/receipts in hand.... so the time frame was rapid.
Just drove to the Gov't office - took the computer test - answered the address, blood type questions, got photographed... and walked out.
Thats why my cost was less... I had paid the fees already.
Hope this helps
