Buying stuff online in the Dominican Republic?

Hola, I'm pretty new here and was wondering if there are any online ecommerces like Amazon here in the Dominican Republic. For instance, I'd like to buy a hair trimmer. Also when you get stuff shipped here, does it get delivered to your door or do you have to pick it up at the post office? I am living in a condo by the beach in Bavaro in case that helps.

I believe most including myself order stuff from Amazon/Ebay in the US and use a forwarding courier to ship it to their nearest office in DR.

Myself use EPS, they have an office in Bavaro. There are others that people recommend too.

There are a few local online shopping stores but very limited.
For example: https://sirena.do/site/home La sirena GO

Most people buy from Amazon, ebay, etc.
And use a forwarding courier that gets your items here to an office in DR.

There are many couriers you can use check https://couriers.do to compare the most popular ones.

Purchases over 200.00 US$ are subjet to custom taxes at arrival to DR so make sure what you buy is always under that limit, and you must be registred at the DGA, if not they will stop your shipment. After you open your currier account here do not forget to register here https://www.aduanas.gob.do/de-interés/consultas/registro-courier/

If Im not wrong Domex deliver your package in your door, not sure if they add extra charges for that, I think they do. I use EPS and BM Cargo.

Domex does not charge for deliveries.

They are also the carrier for the U.S. Consulate.

Over the years I've used other carriers and Domex is by far the best.

The D.R. is fast becoming the most difficult country in the world to do the simplest everyday things !
How many countries make you register to recieve packets items sent from abroad. You need a licence here not very tourist friendly by doing this.

Save your breath and be happy for no taxes below $200 US. This registration allows the government to track between commercial and private purchases etc. and helps keeping stuff free for normal persons.

In my home country they tax everything from abroad, the previous (free) limit is gone...
I do not want the same happen here.

It only takes a minute or so to register, and then you can forget it.

Tourists and/or expats are probably a fraction of the persons using mail courier services in the DR.

I pick up packages at the Post Office, never any problems, but delivery is slow (4+ weeks).
Waiting for the Chinese to have weekly freight flights to the DR.

I use BMCargo. I can pick up my correspondence and packages at the main office on Ave. Lincoln in Santo Domingo. Lately I've been letting it accumulate and paying 100 pesos online to have it delivered. Delivery beats sitting in traffic.

BMCargo has multiple offices. You can choose to have your mail delivered to an office near you.

I am 80 years old this year and banks here will not give me a credit card because you will die soon and not pay . Works both ways at my age i dont give a dammmmm !

How would they know if you were using a freight forwarder? You're shipping address would be Miami or NYC.

How would they know if you were using a freight forwarder? You're shipping address would be Miami or NYC.

Happy BMCargo customer here, since the last approx 6 years... I may be paranoid, but I would never use IMPOSDOM for anything... They have delivered post cards my parents sent from Europe to our garage, so they seem to work, but they took 6 weeks to deliver and post cards have zero value...

Also, we use Ebay extensively, and never had I had any trouble with the location. Not using any VPN... Nobody knows our location, they receive payment from a European PayPal account and deliver the items to BMCargo in Miami...

I have stumbled upon a couple of Ebay vendors who recognized the BMCargo address as being a freight forwarder, and refused to send as the items could not be exported (it was a cheap tablet). I kindly asked them to send them assuring them that all is fine, but no further response... I ordered the exact same item from another vendor and had no trouble at all receiving the item... I'm sometimes baffled when someone claims to know how things work but they in fact have no clue... I just gave my business to someone else...
