i call BS. 100 grams of leaves have 9 grams of protein. an adult needs about 50 grams a day. so libertad offers only one fifth of that, below 20%, not 42%.

anyways, turns out my father in law has several trees in his finca. but he says they have been picked to the last leaf ;) he planted few trees in his home garden, thou. darn, i just wanted to try those pods. maybe i should venture to the farm and get at least a bit of a root. i like horseradish...

Maybe can be easier. But more I read about Moringa Olifeira, more I tend to it. There are such a lot of good
ingredients, it is amazing. You can buy here in DR capsules, I am just trying out.
Waiting that our cions, planted in August, are growing more and more - they grow quickly and we already can
take leaves for to eat now.
Here a good information:

Discovery Channel documentary Moringa - The Miracle Tree - YouTube

Moringa is as incredible as the research shows. We co-planted our entire Organic Plantain/Cacao farm in Sabaneta De Yasica with thousands of Moringa trees. You can grow them like bushes and just do a rotating harvest. We sell fresh Organic Moringa to food establishments on the North Coast. You can now get "Moringa Shots" similar to Wheat Grass Shots at "Fresh Fresh" (next to Encargo Paq) in Sosua. If you've never had a juiced shot of Moringa you should try it. Gorditos Tacos in Cabarete uses fresh moringa and so does Front Loop Cafe on Cabarete Beach (next to Villa Taino). People are learning Moringa is the ulimate superfood and want it in their diets. You'll see more and more health conscience food establishments adding it to their menus. It's a huge improvement over lettuce. We eat it in our food everyday. Moringa contains all 9 essential amino acids similar to what we would normaly have to get from meat . For over 9 months we have supplemented our dogs food with Moringa and have seen remarkable improvement in our 14 year old Mastiff X Giant Schauzer mix. She is pain free now, very active and happy with a beautiful shiney coat. Moringa for pets is a must. Our dogs eat the fresh leaf mixed with their food no problem. We dry leaves and use the powder for them also. It's effect on joint pain is remarkable.
I could go on and on about our experiences with Moringa. If anyone has any questions just email us.

I have 50 Moringa trees in my garden. I planted 9 inch shoots three months ago and they are now 5 feet high. I make tea with the leaves and dry some to blend and use as a condiment in salads. Has severely improved my energy levels which were at an all time low following my cancer treatments. I will use this for the rest of my life. A wonderful plant and well named.

The recommended daily requirement for calcium varies with age and gender.
For an adult it's between 1000 mg to 1200 mg.

I read about moringa for the first time on this forum at the very first post. With many years in the DR, I have had quite a fascination for plants, butterflies and on a 3,000 square meter of land I have been for months collecting different plants, and flowers (close to 150 different species so far). Of course reading of the benefits of the moringa I decided to have a few plants to add to my ongoing project. I was surprised that many of my Dominican and Haitian friends knew of the plant. I was taken to this huge tree, higher that the house growing in a Boca Chica backyard. I had to have it, and my friend quickly cut a long branch of the tree in 10 different pieces, took seeds from the pods. We stuck the 10 branches into the ground, planted the seeds, and to my fascination, every stick made leaves and every seed became tree very quickly.

A friend of mine who has been following my project with admiration, offered me a book for Xmas called Moringa Nature' s Medicine Cabinet by Sanford Holst. It goes into details on the medicinal properties, the preparation of the plant, how to grow and harvest, some of those well described on this forum. It however address another quality of this plant which has not been addressed here and which I think is worth mentioning. Moringa for water purification. "In developed countries, water authorities use chemicals such as aluminum sulphate to solidify impure particles which are then removed at the water treatment works. In developing countries chemicals like this are scarce and expensive, and therefore not widely used. In stark contrast, powder made from Moringa seeds has been found to be as effective as these chemicals". He goes on and describes the simple way to purify the water "with this method the rate of infection from water can be reduced by 80-98%". I must ad a quote which came right after the water purification chapter:

"Then Moses led the people of Israel on from the Red Sea, and they moved out into the wilderness of Shur and were there three days without water. Arriving at Murah, they could not drink the water because it was bitter. "Then the people turned against Moses. Must we die of thirst? they demanded. "Moses pleaded with the Lord to help them, and the Lord showed them a tree to throw into the water, and the water became sweet." Exodus 15:22-7

The author, Sanford Holst raises a small plantation of Moringa trees at his home in Sherman Oaks, California. I recommend this book.

My moringa trees are doing great, thriving along my impressive plant collection. I was so impressed with this amazing tree that I renamed my piece of land with the villa which I am building on it "Villa Moringa"

This plant is without equal. It even "cures" the "gay". Baldness. Flatulence. Blotchy skin. The "ugly". The "bitchy". It cures everything!

Sirena has it in SG in teabags or loose. There are many more "remedias caseras" in the DR than moringa. Take the Neem tree.

Both Moringa and Neem (and sugar!) migrated from India through Persia, through Arabia to Iberia thence to the New World (Hispaniola first). They were useful as shade trees, so their medicinal value perhaps has been ignored in modern times. It's reported that India uses Neem tea as a supplement or even replacement for insulin therapy.

I would think that the water purification could be very useful in circumstances like what happened in Haiti
