I think that there is actually a very strong link between paedophiles targeting vulnerable children and sex-tourists targeting vulnerable women. If you think that a 60 year old man who targets a 15 year old child should be fed to the lions, but it's cool for an 60 year old man to have sex with an 18 year old girl who is poor and vulnerable, then surely you have to question whether your moral compass needs a little adjustment. There was outrage on DR1 when the government tried to close the "chica" bars in Sosua. I know I'm not alone in believing that these bars promote DR as a sex tourism destination and attract people like the guy we see here.

This Canadian clearly needs help and clearly should have been picked up by the Canadian authorities before he was allowed to step foot on a plane to DR. Governments in first world countries are constantly tracking paedophile activity on the internet, and someone would have known about him and would have known he was on his way to DR. I sincerely hope lessons can be learnt in Canada. And my heart goes out to the child and the mother involved in this, they must both be traumatised.

do we actually know that the tape in question is a child tape or normal xxx tape ????

Unfortunately politically connected persons providing 'safe legal environments' for a sex industry to flourish in Sosua an Boca Chica does also provide a safe haven for paedophiles to hang out. The OP story confirms this and so does post #23. You will hear some horrendously horrible tales about paedophile rings in Boca Chica and the kidnapping of young children nationwide to satisfy the needs of these deviants. That place needs reinventing and with the beaches eroding and faeces in the sea it is a good time to start. Sosua is probably no different but it obviously has some decent residents who would no doubt yearn for a change in it's fortunes.

The best safe legal environments for gringos to meet legal age partners with no hassle is in virtually every barrio, colmado or bar throughout the country with absolutely no need for any promotion.

I wish DR was know throughout the western world for it's beautiful and varied landscape and it's vibrant people rather than the too often mentioned prostitution and sex tourism and occasional paedophilia in a very few locations.

I agree with most of what you are saying but I fail to see how politicians allowing consenting adults who are engaging in adult activites (several who I?m sure are also loving parents) is somehow helping to harbor or foster an environment that ?provides a safe haven? for paedophiles to hang out? I think this is more a matter of the poorly trained local police force not really giving a rats ass about these individuals or their behavour.

Unfortunately I know a few paedophiles who live in Sosua as well. Almost all of them are French, Swiss or French Canadian. They openly parade their ?victims?around the Charamicos side of the beach. These men are not sex tourist. These men are discusting criminals and should be treated as such.

Having a safe legal environment for sexual business is a hell of a lot better than how things are done in Ft Lauderdale FL where it is run to a degree by the sheriff's office, though totally illegal there. I have never heard an argument why a lady making her living with her body in sexual trade should be illegal, the only reason is for exploitation, and keeping them in bondage. That keeps the men in control.

For every one sex "tourist" there are a hundred Dominican men paying females for sex and they don't give a rat's behind what age they are.

1) There is nothing to indicate that he already has a criminal conviction of any sort.
2) There is nothing to indicate how long he has been in RD.
3) It is up to the destination country to determine who they will allow in, not Canadian authorities.
4) What Bob said.

Surely you don't think that makes it right then?

It is their country, not ours. It is not for us to decide what is right for them, at all. Whether it is right for our USA ambassador to promote his personal moral code yes it may be our business since he represents us. But if Dominicans are comfortable with their sexual laws who are we to condemn them?

Indeed I wrote it. Sounds like you are trying to blame sex tourism for paedoliphiles in the DR.
Lousy argument.

2) There is nothing to indicate how long he has been in RD. He has been in the RSJ area before. He was chase by motocho's and caught by them not the Navy patrol and had a ride back on motocho's motobike where he was seated in the middle and his car was driven back to the station house by the local police one famale an the other male. If anyone wants to know I saw the chase.

It was in Monday's DR1 News too - the name must be wrong or incomplete.

Armada stops suspected Canadian child kidnapper
Vice Admiral Edmundo Felix Pimentel reports that an Armada (Navy) patrol was able to rescue a nine-year old boy who had supposedly been kidnapped by a Canadian man. Pimentel said that the patrol received a call from Rafael Santos Valdez who reported that an unidentified person had taken his son near the beach at Los Barcos, Rio San Juan, in Maria Trinidad Sanchez (Nagua) province on the northeastern coast. As reported in a local online news service, the Armada went in pursuit of a Kia Picanto vehicle license plate X241391 driven by a Canadian and rescued the child. The alleged kidnapper was turned in to the Police.
A local news service in Sabaneta de Yasica says that the Police named the Canadian as Jazmin Isle who was taken to Nagua for arrest while his case is heard.
According to the Police, Isle was found in possession of adhesive tape, pornographic movies, two books, alcoholic beverages, camera, passport and other personal documents.

Unfortunately, it often isn't the case in the US. After the Jeffrey Dahmer case, they started moving pedophiles and other sex offenders (a la Jared) into special "protective" custody units.

It didn't help him (Jared), as it's been reported that he got beat up in prison.

I fully agree with the above but reality frequently does not conform.......

When surrounded by moral depravity, some will falter and attempt to justify immoral activity based on "societal norms".
