A "chamb?n" is a sort of goofy person...not necessarily a retarded person...

Chambonear is probably a reference to someone horsing around.

.....

Can you tell me what is " Chambonea" as in Omega;s song ?

"Chambonea" is a slang term meaning "to cock," as in "to cock a gun." If you listen to the lyrics Omega says, "Chambonean sus armas para matarme y aniquilarme. E visto infrarojo sobre mi cuerpo, colocado." Loosly translate as saying, "they cock their guns, so they can kill me. I've seen infrared lasers pointed at my body."

I guess he has people trying to kill him.

Now that is why translation sites always ask for context...

I am wondering if that is a "spanglisizing" of Chamber, ie, to chanber a round in a weapon...

Because a Chambon is anything but threatening...and might even be comical...

Thanks Mr Lu for the context...

Chamber a round to shoot me and wipe me out; I've seen infrared put on my body....

Nice guys he hangs with....

Those lyrics are a metaphor in reference to other artists singing or saying negative things about him. Much like U.S.rap artists "dis" each other in their songs- It does not mean anything physically violent.
In other words, other artists put one in the chamber to shoot him down with their songs/lyrical arsenal but he's still on top of his game. That's all-
Get with it.

Sorry, I have to interject. These guys are nothing but street thugs that had a wee bit of talent and a lot of luck. They portray themselves in public as such as well. There is a CLEAR distinction between the gentlemen that are Mr. Frank Reyes and this guy Omega (whom makes the news because he was arrested for beating the crap out of his wife). It's just pure s--t. Good for the teens and delinquents that are fans. Keep the culture rolling!

"I" am "with it," and he is talking about the violence he "lives" in. The lyrics speak of those other artist, but the chorus is recounting actual events. Omega, if you didn't know, was involved with some shady characters, including his main backer who was supposedly a drug trafficker, who washed money through the band. He paid for the suits, shows, travel etc. and cleaned his cash. Some of these guys carry guns, and there have been reports of gun violence directed at him and his entourage. So I will stand by that original statements. Though the song is up for "musical interpretation and use of violence metaphors," if you read the blogs you will understand.

As for "Rey's" comments, most of today's Pop artists, everywhere, are comprised of a "wee bit of talent, and a whole lot of luck." That is what comprises the music industry and why he have so few SUPER stars, that will transcend generations.

As per the "thug" comment, as compared to Frank Reyes, realize that it is an image created to sell to a certain fan base. That's all. Reyes' "image" is just as important, as Omega's.

As for his fan base, look at his sold out performances at Hard Rock Cafe this year. RD$2,000 per ticket and RD$60,000, RD$50,000 and RD$20,000 minimum consumption tables, meaning that thugs, delinquents, businessmen, the rich and poor, alike, listen to Omega. Just like Kobe's rape, Alex's roid use and Tiger's infidelity, stars, even those on a smaller scale like Omega, can find redemption with "success."

Whether you are a fan of his music or not, or whether you think his public persona is something to scoff at, he is a representative of what contemporary Dominican culture is like, and what they like to listen to.

Thread is going south. This is the "Spanish forum" not a place for music discussions and arguments.
