Longtimers, please help?
I am looking for the cheapest way or place to print a 200 page document. I have it on my computer and on a flash drive but I need a hard copy to work with.
I am in La Romana.
Many thanks. :bunny:

Go to a nearby business that has a quality printer. Tell the owner that you need their help with something important. They will be relieved that all you are asking for is the use of their printer. Be direct and honest. People feel good when they can help someone.

I was giving a presentation and didn't have my hand outs. I went to a large law firm and asked to speak directly to one of the partners. He laughed and said he thought it was a real problem. He called his secretary and she took care of it for me. Go to any high end business with a high volume business with printers. Speak to owner directly and be honest. An administrator doesn't have the authority to give away supplies and shouldn't. They won't take payment. Bring them some tres leches the next day.

If I not mistaken, Mailboxes Etc charges 1.5 pesos per printed page - no idea if the fees vary between locations. 300 pesos not a bad price.

Thank you! Looks like Jumbo has a Mailboxes Etc. That's a great price compared to printing at an internet cafe here.

I have had several thousand pages printed over the years in Puerto Plata at a copy shop. Used to pay one peso per page, but recently went up to two pesos for 10 copies or under and 1.5 pesos for more than ten.

Wow, wish I could get those prices. Here, I have been charged 5 to 10 pesos per page.

do yourself a favor and buy a printer form usa for less than 130 dollars. epson wf-3540
its a all-in-one printer (scanner, printer and fax) with huge ink cartridges. The biggest novelty is: it comes with epson # 126 cartridges but you can buy the double capacity cartridge #127 and it will fit in perfectly. Now you may ask, what is the novelty if the original cartridges cost so much? so happens you can buy a set of 10 cartridges of #127 for under 10 dollars in ebay. Yes, they are not original cartridges(chinese made) but they work just as good for normal printing jobs. I have printed thousands and thousands of flyers for my business and it costs me nothing as compared to getting them all printed in a commercial printing business. I do my own printing from the comfort of my own home. if you buy the 10 ink cartridges from ebay, you will not be buying any more cartridges for some years if you do just casual printing. My printer is connected via wifi so I don't have any hard wires going from printer to laptop. Since the printer is less than 200 dollars, you pay no custom fees as well. i brought in 2 in original factory boxes and the custom officials didn't even take any interest.

Yeh, 5 pesos a page is normal for the one off in internet cafes. But if you offer them less they will take considerably less for so many pages, especially if it is not their shop. 200 pages, offer an internet cafe 500 pesos.

Thank you for this info AZB. I have a printer down here but it's just a little one with little ink cartridges. I'm leaving soon enough that it's probably not worth it to have it shipped here, but will definitely keep the suggestion in mind for the future.
