You must really like it....as you double posted it...lol.

If you like it that much.....can you provide an address and I will give it a try on my next trip back. What type of food do they offer?

It is on Estrella Sadhala next the Hotel Platino and across from PUCMM. It is typical Dominican casual food but with a bigger menu than Max. They have burgers, sandwiches, varities of chivo, fish and pollo.

Thanks!

I know the area having previously stayed at the Platino.

There also was a decent restaurant almost next to the Platino....but the sign now describes it as a cigar restaurant/bar?

Not sure about SD and Santiago but Chef Pepper has gone downhill in Bavaro. Especially the hamburgers. I've quit ordering them. Soggy buns, paltry toppings. My experiences have been the same with both delivery and eating at the restaurant. It's a shame really since when they first opened it was very impressive.

Are you talking about the one in the same plaza as the hotel on the right hand side?

Burgers have gone WAY up in the states outside of the big chains. At some place I worked at a while back, they had a $14 burger made with with 8oz of standard 80/20 beef. They made it between two grilled cheese sandwiches with more cheese on the burger and plenty of bacon. It was a lot of food. If you go to a Buffalo Wild Wings, they're charging about $10 for a burger that comes in frozen and could be a year old. If you see scalloped edges on a burger, it was frozen.

I prefer the 2oz sliders nowadays. They cook faster and are moister than big burgers and you can split the order easier so you can have wings and other items as well. You usually get four to an order.

The technique I used to cook burgers is to start them on the grill, do a quarter turn a couple minutes in and then flip it when blood starts coming out of the top. Then when the blood starts coming out of the burger again, it's a perfect MED-RARE. When it starts to bleed clear, it's MED, slows bleeding MED WELL and stops bleeding, WELL. Don't press the burger once it's on the grill. For MW-Well, we'd press the burgers out first so they'd cook faster.

Excellent! Do you deliver? lol

Looking forward one day to discussing the rivers and hills of SE Asia with you.....over a hamburger...as opposed to being "hamburger" on a hill....if you know what I mean.

The fried calamari are also great AND they do serve the coldest Presidentes.

As for other food, I had the best bbq ribs I've had since I arrived at BBQ express today (in Los Jardines).

I've never eaten at Chef Pepper, but have the seen the lines of people waiting at lunch time. I'll have to give it a try one of these days.

Since you guys are talking about decent places to eat in Santiago, I also recommend Square One in the gas station in front of PUCMM on Estrella Sadhala, especially for their American style breakfast.
