Santo Domingo.- The president of the Pro-Chinese Community Jade Foundation, Miguel Feng, has reported that Chinese businessmen are interested in investing in the construction of a hotel complex in the Dominican Republic. They are looking to invest in the construction of a high-quality hotel, either in Santo Domingo or possibly in the Punta Cana area.

The interest in this investment arises from the current lack of high-quality hotels in the Dominican Republic that can cater to a large number of Chinese tourists. Chinese tourists often seek hotels with spacious gardens and distinctive features that align with their preferences.

Feng also mentioned that Chinese tourists are known to be significant consumers and are willing to spend up to $300 a day during their stays, provided they find a product that appeals to them. This potential investment could cater to the growing demand for accommodations tailored to Chinese tourists’ preferences in the Dominican Republic.

Spending up to $300.00 a day....there is the JW Marriott, Intercontinental Real which are very nice. I would think if they are talking about having "large gardens' then it would be built outside of Santo Domingo. In Punta Cana, is there a large number of Chinese tourists? I do not think spending up to $300 a day would be considered a large amount of money for a "high quality" hotel. Most so-called high-quality hotels go for more than that.

I've stayed at JW Marriott and Intercontinental, I can tell you that $300 a night is worth it because of luxury and the place I am staying. Both hotels are the far best in SD... For Punta Cana, it's so hard because there are so many good resorts.

if they're flying from China to the 'DR', which is like 24 hours and at least 3 stops, they are not going to get a 'half decent' todo inclusivo for two for 300 a night

Many people are stuck that there aren't many Chinese tourists yet. China is the type of place that the prime miniter or president or whatever he's called says "don't go here, go here" and the people actually do it. Lots and lots of people. What would happen if he makes it public that PC is safe for Chinese tourists?

After a lot of struggling the Chinese caught up on the chip technology, some say their cars are now on par with the American cars or even better, the electronics they make are 1st class, and most everything else. Also there is no intellectual property laws in China so they can reverse-engineer almost anything or straight up copy the design. Their products are no joke anymore. Most of the "Made in China" products we see are cheap ass shit because the middle class in the US and Canada is rapidly shrinking and all they can afford is cheap Chinese products. 3rd world countries like DR 90% of the population have no choice but to buy cheap Chinese shit, which is great for them! Better to wear cheap Chinese sneakers than go barefoot.

True.. Geely (Chinese) bought Volvo cars in 2010, Lenovo bought IBM computers in 2002 or 2003. They never engineered Volvos or Lenovo laptop the IP came as a part of the packet.

Lenovo also owns Motorola. Chinese Huawei is the world's best phone maker, their Mate 60 beats iPhone 15 in every category (except the "cool factor') and what's more they're able to make 5G chips in-house which Apple still can not do. Chinese also own General Electric's appliance division. I bet via various investment and hedge fund schemes they own many big-name corporations and brands. I wish DR would sell their whole electric system to the Chinese, they'd sure run it better and more efficiently than the EDEs.

My dad felt the same way. But he also fought against them in WW2, so he was a bit biased.
