Cigars

Several years ago we visited a cigar factory in Santo Domingo. For some reason I remember that there was a brewery there also. My husband bought cigars there and would like to purchase some more. I remember the name Leon and that the cigars came in wooden boxes. Any suggestions on which factory I was at or how to order this specific cigar?

Thanks!

That was not Santo Domingo, but Santiago. (My hometown!)It is not on the beach, but the 1hr trip is worth it. I have visited the factory recently and they really run a professional operation. They are perhaps one of the best brand names (E. Leon Jimenez). I am not a smoker, but I always get some when I go.I happen to know the manager personally and the plant ingeneer. If you do visit you will have a good time. You may be able to purchase their product on line. Be prepared to pay handsomely. They are worth it though. You will love the people. If you go, go in February and check out the carnival. You will be blown away, I guarantee. Grand parade last sunday in February. Good luck and enjoy!!!

Cigars..This is easy

You can go to any cigar store in the USA and buy them-La Aurora or Leon Jimenes (not 'z').
They are a pretty fair cigar and recently won a Blindsmoke that was NOT run by a cigar magazine but rather by cigar smokers (see link below).
And "dominicanyork", if you read this..there is not one engineer in that factory! There are some very, very wise tobacco people there, and the bossman is the son of the owner and a business grad of PUCMM...After all, nearly 100 years of experience counts for something. They are the second oldest cigar factory in the DR, the oldest being the Habanera founded one year before La Aurora.

HB (Yes, the same one whose cigar finished 2nd in this blindsmoke. We're all old friends.)
