i remember the story matilda shared here about a turista in juan dolio who wanted to rent a boat for a day trip around the island. turned out he thought he was in dominica, not dominican republic. mat had to restore to showing him maps and having him consult hotel staff before he finally believed her. i think you cannot get more stupid than that
a friend here in POP told me about a turist who came here on a delayed flight, late at nigh. she gets to the hotel, goes to the room and calls the reception to complain because she booked ocean view and she cannot see the ocean. hotel staff checks the room number and confirms it does, indeed, have ocean view but she cannot see the ocean of the account of it being the middle of the night. the guest then presented an official complaint that the ocean was not sufficiently illuminated.
