drstock,
I may be the source of the "we do the following tests" when I cut and pasted from the email my CMC contact sent me in response to my inquiry.

You should send them a quick email asking how much for a PCR "tested negative" results declaration
without having to physically come in for the test.
It's only a matter of time before taxi drivers/ moto conchos and your local English speaking street hustlers
are offering them to people down here on holiday.

People like me have no intention of leaving the DR for anywhere at the moment, but might wish to get tested at some time.
Or, they take one of the tests which is appropriate to see if they had CV19. After all, many people are asymptomatic.

Ken you seem to be confused CMC ag-pcr it is an antigen test... good for USA...no good for Canadians Canadian test rt-pcr

We do the following tests:
CoViD 19 Ag PCR Nasopharyngeal 4400RD
CoViD 19 IGG/IGM in blood 1498RD

The results are ready within 12 hours (sooner if the lab is not busy)
No appointment is required. You can go to the area of emergency, there is someone who will help you with the process.

There is no Ag-PCR test in the world.

There is RT-PCR test, AG test, and LumiraDX AG test (not used in DR). LumiraDX AG costs about the same as PCR but has results in less than 15 minutes and there is only a tiny difference in positive susceptibility compared to RT-PCR only from day 5 onwards.

Maybe CMC is using LumiraDX AG and refers to them as AG-PCR ?

Why would anyone get the blood test? As far as I know, it's not a PCR test and is not accepted by any country for entry.

To find out if you had gone through COVID.
Or if your symptoms are Covid.

Here is a good article.

My wife went yesterday to CMC and it was the AG PCR test (nasal swab) . The AG part ahead of the PCR at CMC would stand for Antigen.
Canada accepts RT-PCR and LAMP COVID tests.

There is no, again no, AG-PCR. It's AG or it's PCR. But there is no AG-PCR. Nasal or throat swab does not mean PCR. AG tests also involve nasal/throat swabs.

I hope they start doing RT-LAMP or TMA tests in the DR, these had started to be valid to enter some EU countries, e.g. Spain. They are on par with RT-PCR in terms of sensitivity, efficacy, susceptibility, and much faster to give results.

The blood test only came up because it is one of the options offered by CMC. Apparently some Canadian Travelers tried to use that test to board their flight and were turned away. Other quick tests also use blood like some tests offered by Puerto Plata Labs in Sosua. I'm still not convinced that CMC offers a useful test for Canadians wanting to fly to Canada but I am open to the possibility that they do or someday will. I just haven't heard of anyone walking out of CMC with an RT-PCR test yet or any other PCR test that is acceptable to the airlines or the Cdn Govt. CMC not being listed on the list of accredited labs published by the Canadian Embassy might be a good indication that CMC is not a good choice at this time.

What would they do if you had a PCR test done outside of the DR, within the 72 hour period specified ? Let's say done in Colombia, Panama, Spain etc. It's not impossible to transit via DR from those countries on the way to Canada...

Don't think you need it in 72hrs to be in Canada, only 72 hrs to board plane for say Canada

I always knew that the 72 hour time frame from test to flight was going to be a problem in addition to getting to the right place to get the right type of test. We live here so we understand how slow some processes are. The Cdn Govt seems to think that these developing countries can process covid tests per day on par with the number they are doing in the first world. This is only the beginning. Many more Canadians are not going to make under the wire until the acceptable types of tests are expanded. Unfortunately I wouldn't hold my breath waiting for this type of change to the rules. There is always going to be the risk of a false positive. Travelers need to inform the embassy here in the DR that the constraints are nearly impossible to meet given the time limitations currently in place and the reality on the ground here. As more and more travelers get tested the delays to get the result will only increase. Maybe these testing clinics need a VIP fee to pay staff to stay longer and process the tests for airlines within 48 hours.

I have always wondered how is it possible that in Europe you can get results in 24 hours (normal) or 6, 12 horus for a small surcharge.

I paid 70 euros before flying back to DR via Spain, did the test at 10.32 in the morning at a mobile testing place (with appointment) and at 5.30 something p.m. the same day I got my full PDF result in 5 langauges, a text message via phone, and additional email with big SARS-COV-2 NEGATIVE letters in green.

Same when I arrived Spain and did the test before flying out to my country in order for to quarantine (only EU PCR tests are accepted). Same day result.

I wonder why in Europe they can do it (and a feie d of mine got 24 hour test results in USA as well), but here they take days.. and more days...

I mean the Canadian embassy published a list of approved labs in the DR for PCR test. I wonder if someone presents a PCR test from non-DR lab, but within the required 72 hour period prior to boarding, what would they do?

It's not unimaginable that someone may just transit through DR or stay 1, 2 nights here and have a test result from outside of the DR.

Btw I heard of a guy who has a *****" (Dominican Lab) PDF format and he produces test results for a small 1000 pesos fee. I am sure there are others as well in the DR...

You do realize that the blood test only shows if you had covid and are producing antibodies - not if you are currently infected, right? It doesn't test for the virus itself.

Wrong. It can show the current infection. See the thorough explanation of IgG/IgM test, in one of my replies above there is a link.

Though it would not show recent infection (asymptomatic) or first 5 days of infection. It would show once antibodies kick in in sufficient amount from 5-6 days onwards after the symptoms start (and infection being fighted by your body).
