Chronic or not. You still pay the fee, leave and return. The only red flags for passport control are serious offenses. And overstay is not one of them.

You seem to think you know more than everyone else about this, and repeat yourself over and over and over. Please spare us, we heard you the first 100 times.

Sky has had a Dominican Passport longer than ANYONE on this board. Close to 15 years. And works for the Fuerza Aero Dominicana, the people that run the airports here...........

I don't think anybody has suggested that over 30 days is the true problem -
'Chronic' overstaying' has been mentioned.
Is that too many long stays or staying for 3-4-5 yrs on a 30 day pass without getting 'legal'?

Hard to read the mind of Migracion - to put it mildly.....

I would absolutely fit the "chronic" category, sometimes overstaying by a year and doing this for almost 12 years and not ONCE have I ever been questioned. I do not believe there is ANYONE looking for "chronic" overstay offenders.

Gary,

Possibly, because immigration have only recently began looking at some chronic overstayers. For the vast majority of your 12 year period, you are quite correct, no one was looking so you had no problems. Going forward, maybe your exposure to risk will change, maybe not. It might be more accurate to reset the clock and say that since reports of greater attention being paid to overstayers began in the last 5 months or so, you have not had a problem despite your longer term past history.

I noticed a new camera at the tourist card desk in Santiago this weekend. Guy only gave me one half of the two ticket string, and next guy in line who is supposed to take one half and scan, saw I only had one half and waved me through...

On the flight here two Dominicans drank an entire bottle of duty free whiskey, spilling a few cups, and refused to stop when the flight attendant informed them they were not allowed to serve themselves... They were mostly funny and I enjoyed sharing the row of seats with them, but they were rude to her and refused to treat her politely. They got escorted off the plane by two cops who looked half asleep...

FYI   Flew into Santo Domingo from Boston on December 28 and return back to Boston April 1 after paying the 4000 peso  overstay fee.  I return back to Santo Domingo this morning and flew right through immigration and customs  hassle free.  The only thing different was a new updated form  with more questions on it that’s handed out on the plane.  I still had to pay the $10 entrance fee at SDQ,  not sure when the airlines will start including it with the price of the ticket.  This is my two cents worth.

Oh!

The new customs form! Every one is numbered, which is weird, and it has three spaces for you to write your stay duration!

I think that means up to 999 days is allowed!

I have been in and out after overstays over the last year. I just am not buying it that there is any concerted effort to identify and admonish those of us that choose to (at least for now) overstay and pay - That could be a slogan for the DR tourism board...

COME TO THE DR OVER STAY AND PAY!!

As I have said before, the only time us "overstayers" will have problems is when several people on DR1 start working DR immigration.

The hassle he is referring to is happening on this board, not at any airport.

Yawn, this thread is soooooo boring. Three or four people saying that there isn't a problem, about thirty people trying to convince them that things are changing and they may have a problem in the future. 56 pages of this and it goes on and on and on. I cannot remember a more boring thread, other than those 100+ pages about the price of things in supermarkets in Sosua. I've never quite understood the point of emigrating to a tropical country, not bothering to get residency, then spending all day sitting inside on a website trying to argue that you don't need residency. Surely the point of being here is to enjoy the beach?
