Continental B777 Pics in STI Coming Soon!!

hello everybody!!!!

I just sent a couple of the pictures to Robert that we took of Continental's visit to STI in a B777-224ER

It is an astonishing airplane with incredible performance and a very quiet and reliable way of transporting 48 people in first class and 235 in coach with Private TV's in every seat and incredible comfort......

I had the oportunity to view the airplane in the inside and it really is amazing......

Would like to also point out that the airplane performed with absolute ease in STi runway which is (for now ) much shorter than PUJ or even POP. This shows very clearly that a B777 can operate in STI with no problems and remember that this 777 is the biggest Schedule flight that has landed at STI. At the beginning of 04 we had 2 747-200 come in in ferry flights.....

I wanna take the chance to thank and congratulate the OPS department in STI for they're great work in the prompt execution of this operation which was the first for a 777 in STI.... also, ramp operator for continental in STI Domiservi and the Continental crew in STI.....

Definetly this shows the great deal of progress that STI is making in less than 4 years of operation.

Also would like to point out the big progress in the jetbridge instalation and the new check in counters wich will be available real soon for a much relaxed check in progress, with more space and less hazzle......

yes,
An-124 landed the 20st of december it spent the night over in STI and departed the 21st..... it made both flights from and to Portugal.....

It brought LOTS of cargo but left relatively lightweight.....

It is the largest airplane to ever have landed at STI..... It can hold 88 passengers in an upper cabin but it is mainly a cargo airplane....

I had the chance to see the takeoff...... heavy!!!!!!

The 777 is the largest passenger flight and the largest flight in STI for a schedule flight.... the AN124 was a Chartered cargo plane......

I know that a loaded Antonov-124 landed at STI, I saw the approach. Not that it would be needed, but could a heavy loaded AN-124 take off with STI's runway length?

i don`t know how much the TOW would have to be but it is a 2,620m runway....... the AN124 was designed to not use much runway but with lots of cargo i wouldn know......

Wow! Great pics of that monster hope we have those types of aircrafts visiting DR more frequently STIOP one Question is there like a definite day by which the STI airport will be completed including jet bridges and all the things they are going to put in there? I always ask this question LOL! just anxious and to everybody is there any update on COPA PYT to STI?

Upon my return a week ago I was told that the runway will be made longer. Apparently more land has been bought west of the runway for the expansion. The person who told me was one of the ramp guys. This however raises a question. If they expand to the west that means that the runway will be closer to Autopista Duarte. Is this so?

Hey tigre...glad u liked the pics.....

There will be a expansion of 400m of runway to the west of the airport,expanding the current runway to 3,021m.... but it still is a looong way to the duarte highway..... if u keep expanding the runway to the west you`ll have to go a really long way to intersect the higway..........
