Where the heck can we get some corn dogs for the 4th in Santiago?

I'm thinking PriceSmart or Nacional.

Called PriceSmart and Nacional but no luck.

Bravo carries them sometimes. I bought some a month ago. In the back of the store next to the fish counter in a stand up freezer.

The last corndog I ate was in 1992 and it is still sitting in my colon. No I did not get it from Chris.

I never had one either. Had no idea some people find them necessary for the Fourth of July. I have seen them here, but I think it may have been at Playero a long time ago.

You could make your own... It's been a while since I've made them, but what I'd use is a half cup each of Bisquick and corn meal, then one cup beer and an egg. Mix and let set for 5-20 minutes. Roll hot dogs in dry bisquick first to help the batter stick. Dip into batter and deep fry until deep brown. Hot dogs should be warmed first.

What I like more now is to roll them in half a burrito shell and pin it with a toothpick. Moisten the shell first to help it stick to itself. Still use a skewer to make it easy to eat and pull the picks after frying.

It has been awhile but I remember having a hot dog on a stick that was "wrapped" with a crescent roll. Those dough like biscuits you buy in a tube. They wrapped the hot dog with bacon and the "biscuit/crescent roll" and baked them. Wasn't that bad.

No idea if you have one in Santiago but I think they have some at Nathan's. At least at PUJ I remember seeing them. Even had the mini ones with delicious onion rings... yum!! (this is pure torture, haven't had lunch yet)

I bought a couple of boxes of them in JUMBO (National) on Sunday. It's always better to look than to call and ask.

And as Kate mentioned, Nathans has them too!

you only bought them because they bear your initials...

Just checked, the brand is "Morning Star" by Kelloggs.. And they're Veggie Corn dogs.

I just had two.

Kate has me thinking about those onion rings now.. I may have to hit Nathans tomorrow.

easy on the junk food, JD. we need you around here.
