The announcement that the two doses of Covid-19 vaccination would be required for using public transport and for access to many places has delivered the desired results. Thousands are again lining up to be vaccinated. In the Dominican Republic where already around 60% of the population is vaccinated, but the government has vaccine stocks for 100%+.

The vaccines have spared the population a major spike in Covid-19 cases with the entry of more aggressive variants. But now that the Presidency has removed curfew restrictions nationwide, the measures seek to motivate those that have not been vaccinated to get with it.

As of 18 October 2021, the government will be requesting physical or digital proof that a person is fully vaccinated for entering government offices, public transport and schools.
