This is another plagiarized article that dominicantoday stole from listen diario. Tts evident that the government is lying to their citizens
but theyre not buying as 1000s responded to this and called them liars. As if they dont have friends and family who told them the process of getting through these airports.
That's what i thought. They must be getting desperate

The DR has been through worse and it survived. The wasted centuries of DR decline from the 18th century to the Haitian occupation and ethnic cleansings of the 19th century, the DR survived. It shall rise again.

This cannot be contained. The latest scientific information states that immunity is not achieved. Antibodies degrade within weeks or months thus a vaccine will do nothing.
Of course it can be contained. It cannot be cured, there is no vaccine, but contained though avoidance - yes. Look at New Zealand, Vietnam, China, Switzerland, Cuba and recently even Canada.

Has anybody evidence of this happeing?

With or without evidence I wouldn't care about AILA. Metro Santo Domingo is where hundreds are infected every hour.

What im saying is that the employees should be covid tested and stay on the resort for the 45 day SOE period. Almost like cruise workers. If you really want to create a safe environment for tourists during the SOE they should never leave the resort. It would be tough but these foreign companies should compensate them for their sacrifices. It would still be far less than any american wage they pay.
The problem is that you cannot run a 1000 bedroom hotel without some people coming in and out. Think of all the supplies that an AI hotel get through, and all the contractors who have to come in and out. And obviously the biggest risk is that mainly Americans are coming and some will be coming from areas with the highest infection levels in the world. They could be asymptomatic. I suspect they may have to close the hotels again. I keep hearing they are running at 10% occupancy and they cannot survive on much less than 50% in any case.

Night time curfew not withstanding, the DR is doing great at spreading this virus around when most people are out and about and that is during the daytime. Any attempt to reduce the infection rate will need to address what transpires during business hours in the shops and on the streets and in the lines for the banks. A night time curfew may have an impact on potential crime rates but will do nothing to slow the spread of CV19. Just lots more people getting arrested and clustered together in cramped jail cells because they can't do as they are told and stay off the streets.

The DR should do what every other country in the caribbean is doing. Keep tourism open but require a recent pcr test for entry. Why would they allow anyone from the states inside their country is one of the dumbest decisions ever. I agree with your points though.

Right. No one knows when its over. I think places that now think they have “eliminated” it or have it “under control” easily can be very different months from now and where its bad now is then safer. We have to live with it. But it spreads through travel. I can’t see how tourism will be able to work like before.

Spread is out of control here and the authorities have no idea how to slow it down. I am awaiting the announcement of the new measures but I don't see anyone rushing to a microphone to fill us in on the details.

It’s very frustrating. Difficult to plan anything. I understand they in the beginning announced in the last minute but they should know more now.

This whole pandemic response has been a farce and a circus show. No one here has a real plan to help the people who need help or to control the spread of the virus. It's all just a disjointed patchwork of measures that ultimately will fail to achieve any desirable result. The DR is destined to see this virus run rampant across the country and what happens happens. Apparently that is ok with some DR1 users and most of the officials in this country. You can support people in their daily lives trying to stay virus free with some truly innovative thinking and actions but that is not going to happen I fear. It appears to be reaction politics like normal. No attempt to get ahead of anything or to really make a difference.

Not good from what I've heard.

And that's my point, some compare it to a ghost town.
The North Coast while not a major contender also dead.

I'd be there right now under normal circumstances.
Of course the tourism revenue is badly needed by all involved.
The unfortunate reality is that the struggle will continue longer term.
