I understand your point, but I find it quite ironic that citizens are being forced to sacrifice due to the almost complete ineptitude of the government to do much of anything to curtail these senseless accidents caused by wreckless and irresponsible drivers here. I believe the DR has the worst record in Latin America in this regard.Mr. Andre and all, allow me to present this situation in a different light, which may assist you in seeing things from an alternative perspective. I was going to create a new thread line regarding this situation, but my first hand, factual information will do just as well here within this one. No need to create further clutter.
While the Covid Curfew may not seem to be necessary for those persons who's recreational activities are being infringed upon, and others whom believe it is fruitless to try and address minimalizing violence and/or vehicular accidents through these measures, you must be made aware that there is a severe shortage of blood within blood banks throughout the nation.
Most often injuries inflicted through violent means, and vehicular accidents result in a need for blood. Blood which must be purchased through blood banks. Due to the last several months of Covid related activities, blood banks are operating with bare minimum supply levels, along with some blood types being unavailable throughout several provinces.
Just this past week, I assisted an employee who needed Type B+ blood for a family member. Although the blood was needed in La Romana, there was none to be found within LR, the surrounding provinces, nor Santo Domingo as well. More than 20 blood banks were contacted in search of this supply, all with negative results. I was finally able to acquire two pints and have it transported by a contact residing in Barahona. My employee's family member was allowed to proceed with his imperative surgical procedure, and I am happy to say he is recovering well at this point in time.
The Covid Curfew, while despised and ridiculed by some, is addressing several behind the curtain concerns, and this needs to be understood........even if it is a spoiler for your recreational activities. Minimalizing violence and/or vehicular accidents to protect the precious available blood supply is just one of those behind the curtain concerns, and may save your life as well.
I'm in favor of a curfew, just not one that begins so early. Restaurants are suffering more than most. If the curfew began at, say 10pm, restaurants could at least get in a dinner hour. They're bleeding profusely and could use a transfusion, too.
