I can't imagine that if you were sick enough to want to go to HOMS that you wouldn't pry open your wallet and take out 4-5000 pesos for a private taxi to take you door to door,or 12,000 to Cedimat. I don't know about you but my life is worth WAY more than that.

I have always been a fan of flexibility as long as the post has some useful info. Tangents can be quite informative which is all that matters to me.

Due to the uncontrllable COVID-19 situation and a fast increase of new cases and defunctions the health care cannot be guarantted to you at the moment, no matter what type of insurance do you have. The hospitals are full. There are not enough beds. It is possible that you will be denied hospital admission not only for corona virus treatment, but for any other emergancy as well.

This is not just a priviate opinion. The dramatic situation in the health sector has been confirmed and described today be the President of the Dominican Medical College, Dr. Waldo Ariel Suero:

Yes, everything in Off Topic, all threads, are gone.

In this thread only, there will be a bit of leeway, but we want to focus primarily on DR. If there’s info on new treatment/vaccine/transmission, etc., that’s okay if it’s in Israel or Germany.

What’s not okay are posts only about what’s happening in U.K., USA, etc.

It should be easy really. A post should have some link to or relevance to the DR.

What is a little confusing is some members are bringing the Covid conversation into every thread line of the forum.
This was posted by myself in the Future of Sosua thread line, as a response to a poster, but I see it's proper placement should be within this one......

(Regarding mandatory quarantines)

How long is short term?

Some members of the community have been calling for mandatory quarantines for 5 months now. Had they been heard then, we'd currently be under a 5 month quarantine now.......with no beneficial result to show.

While I do not agree with mandatory quarantines, I was firmly against opening up the doors for foreign visitors at this point in time.

Can you imagine the spread that is currently occurring in a small municipality like Sosua? One only need to view the video posted yesterday. Observe one person in that video as a + carrier, and let your imagination run wild.

Are those accommodations being utilized truly sanitized on a daily basis, or are you walking into a Covid19 fog once you open the door?

Due to the lack of superior accommodations in a locale as such, I would not believe their cleaning efforts are on par with AI measures.

Not to mention, those persons who maintain a revolving door for companionship. A possible revolving door of + carriers.

In addition be aware that there are very limited flights or no flights available depending on your location.
If sick a sick return may not be possible.

People are just relying upon their own biased news sources for information. It still has everything to do with politics, and not much in the form of medical answers.
Persons can not even bring themselves to agree on what sort of facial protection to utilize. It's actually quite ridiculous.

You will do as the management requires and we shall comply.
However more than ever what happens in the outside world directly affects the DR.
COVID 19
IMF
US, Canadian EU politics and policies.
Availability of International flights and tourism.
How Dominican politics and health care capabilities affect tourism, which still is one of the most important contributors to the DR economy and ability to fund the finances of the country.
The DR is deeply in debt before CV19 and even more so now, because of the current CV19 crisis.
Citizens of the DR are suffering and it will get worse before any improvements.
The DR is an island, but if left completely to it's own resources and political management the country is in severe crisis.
