As beeing asked to post links before: This seems to confirm the suspicion the limited number of tests is flattening the curve and the real curve going up exponentially. They found that beeing the case in the USA where they dont have enough tests and doing the same amount of tests every day. They can not identify more cases per day because they do not have the tests to do so. As simple as that. That is even more valid for RD with 10 times more limits in testing

Aerial spraying of anything intended to kill a virus would be inhaled my most of the population. Such an operation would necessitate advanced notice and instructions to remain indoors with windows and doors closed until sufficient time has passed for the air to clear.

None of these chemicals are safe for human ingestion in the quantities that would be present from aerial application.

I suppose killing off the entire population would stop the virus in its tracks. :)

That's a pretty impressive site name lol :p
That article directly linked to Yahoo News, D'Arcy.

The Yahoo article stated:

Preliminary results from government lab experiments show that the coronavirus does not survive long in high temperatures and high humidity, and is quickly destroyed by sunlight, providing evidence from controlled tests of what scientists believed — but had not yet proved — to be true.

A briefing on the preliminary results, marked for official use only and obtained by Yahoo News, offers hope that summertime may offer conditions less hospitable for the virus, though experts caution it will by no means eliminate, or even necessarily decrease, new cases of COVID-19, the disease caused by the coronavirus. The results, however, do add an important piece of knowledge that the White House’s science advisers have been seeking as they scramble to respond to the spreading pandemic.

The study found that the risk of “transmission from surfaces outdoors is lower during daylight” and under higher temperature and humidity conditions. “Sunlight destroys the virus quickly,” reads the briefing.

{snip}

This is potentially good news for a tropical location with lots of sun disinfection. Not so good for a place, for instance, like Hamilton ONT. At least not until real summer.

Here is the DR we are already seeing summer weather patterns. It's even much warmer here in Jarabaacoa the last two weeks, and we saw 96F in Santiago on Friday.

From what I understand, it is the lipid coating of the virus which is quickly broken down by soap (which emulsified the lipids, like dish soap cutting through grease in a pan)...and sunlight. The strong UV rays in sunlight is the killer.

So it's a good idea to go outside because the body needs vitamin D for a strong immune system, and it kills any stray virus. Win-Win.

The number of rapid tests carried out in the country is reported in both Listin Diario and El Dia as:

Reportó que hasta el momento se han realizado un total de 56, 710 pruebas rápidas en el país.

More than 56,000 coronavirus tests have been taken in the country

n the Dominican Republic, more than 56 thousand tests have been taken to detect the COVID-19 coronavirus, since its existence in the country was confirmed to date.

According to the Minister of Public Health, Rafael Sánchez Cárdenas, he said that 41,127 rapid tests and 15,583 PCR tests have been carried out, which would add 56,710 tests in total.

Four thousand tests were available yesterday, Saturday, and they were waiting for the results.

He also said that the rapid tests have been carried out in San Juan de la Maguana, La Vega and the La Victoria National Penitentiary.

This is really significant and likely confirms that the actual reported numbers are a decent assessment of the situation in DR.

Here's the intro to an article on travel in the NYTimes

=============================================================

Travelers Consider Their Risk Tolerance
Inexpensive deals abound, and coupled with newly relaxed change and cancellation policies, some travelers are seeing little to no risk in pointing, clicking and purchasing.

On March 12, the day after the World Health Organization declared the coronavirus a pandemic, Sery Kim, a lawyer in Coppell, Texas, noticed that the number of American Airlines AAdvantage miles needed to book a May flight to Barbados she had been eyeing dropped from 130,000 to 30,000 — a decrease of nearly 77 percent.

Thus set off a four-day hunt for future trips. In addition to Barbados, Ms. Kim purchased six round-trip Southwest Airlines tickets, starting later in March, to Washington, D.C., where she keeps an apartment for work. She paid $99 apiece for flights that normally cost upward of $183, with dates extending into September. She spent $93 on a late-April flight to Miami that usually costs around $330. Then she booked a safari vacation in July for about $900 round trip to Cape Town — about half what she paid for a South Africa flight in 2016.

Ms. Kim, 41, was indulging in what might be called flight arbitrage. Inexpensive airfare deals abound currently; couple those with newly relaxed airline change and cancellation policies and some travelers are seeing little-to-no risk in pointing, clicking and purchasing. They are betting that things will have improved enough to travel, and if they haven’t, they can roll their money forward into an even later trip.

“There’s an arbitrage opportunity that has never really existed in modern air travel,” said Scott Keyes, founder of Scott’s Cheap Flights, an online alert service with more than two million members. “Not only are fares super low, but to be able to cancel if you decide not to take the trip is rare. And there are absolutely people taking advantage of it — not in a pejorative sense, but literally by booking flights for when hopefully, fingers crossed, things are safer.”

To proceed cautiously amid travel advisories and border closures, Scott’s Cheap Flights is only promoting deals from July onward, and only for airlines waiving change and cancellation fees.

After her April tour through Japan was canceled, with all of her payments successfully recouped, Karen Burrows, a 56-year-old health care worker, used Scott’s Cheap Flights to purchase a $282 round-trip flight from New York City to Athens, Greece, departing in September.

Why no link?

Wouldn't it make it much simpler for those that might want to read the whole article, or does that really not matter?

Totally missing the humor of the amusingly named Weasel Zipper site in Bob's post.

p.s. there are many things "directly linked" to yahoo that are utter nonsense. There can be awesome articles linked to or re-posted by ridiculously named sites and even normally contentious sites re-posting excellent articles.

I look at the information first, then the source of it and of course take into consideration the poster although even the worst of us can and do contribute valuable information. Trying to bury it in libel and misdirection can't stop the dissemination of quality info

I have a subscription lol and it's not at all about me.

Is it not rude, arrogant not to provide what you obviously have, especially with such a superior and condescending reply. Perhaps I'm wrong. I don't really think so but it wouldn't be the 1st time.
