Yes it is cheap, but it is residencial apartments - that?s a complete other thing. If you want more, safety guard, pools etc, or even just to stay in the tourism areas such as Sosua and Cabarete, it is more expensive.
Even if you would cut your insurances, eat rice and drink water... it is still not cheap here in comparence to what people think it might be.
I spend almost no less here, than if I would live in my home country in total
every month.
Electricity is more expensive here than in my homecountry, so is phone/internet line, and insurances too.
Food would be a little less expensive, but not much because here you have friends over more often..
School, books, uniforms etc is more expensive than in my home country too for my kid.
I think, for anyone wanting to move here, the basic line is that you should move to something, not from something.
Not make it a sudden decision, be aware of what you are getting yourself into in all aspects, and most of all the financial.
If all that is clear, then this is the most lovely country to be in, climate, people, nature, way of life...
There are alots of people wanting to come here after having been here on a few vacations, and that simply won?t work in most of the cases.
In that sense the puzzle won?t fit, finding out the costs of living might be at least 1500 us a month for a very modest life ( that is not what was expected after a few trips to all-inclusives ) and that the salary in the great work in tourism gives 200 us a month..
You see what I am trying to say?
