Hello,

In March there has been a thread about Cotui where "prtyr" gave information about a hotel named "Rancho del Lago". He wanted to come back with more information but as far as I have seen didn't do so.
Maybe he is reading this or anybody else have more info.
I want to spend a day or two in the area of Cotui/Presa de Hatillo this summer.

Thank you

Ronald

I have been to Ranch Del Lago a few times. I might be able to dig up the number. If you go to cotui, and find the Presa De Hatillo, make a left on the road it's on. Basically if looking at the Presa, head left a few miles and Rancho Del Lago will be on the left hand side, before you get to the lake.

Jean Louis runs the place. Nice and quiet. I'll check around for the number.

Nice place near the lake. A/c 2 swimming pools You must try the Truche or Trout. The people from Cotui are some of the nicest people in the DR.

I found another number as well. Last I was there there was a shortage of Truche. Some problems with the lake Probably all taken care of by now.

They will be closing down the second pool in the future, as the owner will be building himself a new house, and will use that pool for the new house.

Here is the number:

How long ago did you leave? How old are you? We probably have mutual friends. I was there for Carnaval, in February. Maison and Discoteca 2000, are cool hangouts as is the new place called Jobbies.

You should go see the lake. For nightlife, Maison is a little Pizza place with live bands on the weekend. Sometimes a band playing Latin rock etc, sometimes Merengue. Discoteca 2000 is the big disco. There is another bar in the main square on the second floor I think it si called "Barril" ? Not sure though.

There is a new outdoor Terraza on the road into town called "Jobbys". Fun place, if you like to dance it is great fun.

You might also want to make a side trip to San Francisco De Macoris. Nice quiet place called "Buffalos".

Unfortunately Cotui is not a very tourist oriented town. But there are a few "piscinas", bars and things like that. Disco 2000 was the big disco like Ralph said, even though I found it to be a bit run down last time I was there. I have a lot of fun when I go to Cotui, because I know a lot of people there, but for somebody who's not from there there's not a whole lot to do other than drink and dance. I also like the Yuna river to go for a swim. The best thing is to get hooked up with somebody and go from there. The people are definitely the friendliest you will find. I'm biased, of course.

Hi Ralph, I'm 32. Left Cotui about 12 years ago, but try to go at least once every year. All my family still lives there. Going back in December. Normally when I go I just stay around there, mostly drinking and partying almost on a daily basis with my friends. Are you from there or do you just visit?

My wife is from there. Maiden name was Doris Ramirez but most people know her as Iris. She is 28, so you are close to the same age, and she seems to know everybody in Cotui. She used to run Ranch Del Lago, as her sister is Married to Jean Louis. She has a bunch of family there.
Hers sister Lucilla works at a woman's clothing store in the main square. She is very popular in Cotui.
I have been there a bunch of times. It is a nice quiet alternative to SD. I just found out I possibly will be going to SD on business in July, so will try and get to Cotui for a day or two.
