I spent five years in the DR and never ceased to be amazed by the red land crabs migrating to the sea. :)

What time of the year do the migrate, and how long is the migration season?

They cost me more than a few tires but are wonderful to see.:)

Okay, the title of this thread startled me.

I would have thought "Crabs??", with the double punctuation, would have meant crabs of a more, ahem, alarming nature...

Sorry for the interruption - continue the crustacean talk...Please...

Red? The only land crabs I saw were Blue/Grey. They usually migrate during the Fall months. Aug/Sept/Oct. PArticularly during the full moon.

"CRABS??"

JANE!!

I would not have thought that a nice girl like you would have even heard of the non-crustacean type of Crabs. :)

Tony,

I would swear that they had a lot of red on them, but time has passed and you are probably correct.

I rented a beach home in Juan Dolio for six months in 1984 and loved every second of it. Those crabs were EVERYWHERE !!!! The house, hotel, restaurant, you name it. What a great time.:)

I can't imagine how much things have changed over the years.

Maybe I owe myself a vacation after all these years. :)

CRABS

JANE !!!!

Is that all you have to say?? :)

You could have said you were a student of Parasitology and maintained your reputation. :)

Your answer was very cute. :) A good sense of humor says alot about a person.

the kind she meant...

the kind Jane J. meant are the ones that Dominican men usually pick one by one with tweezers and then place them in a white surface and get a book of matches to burn them one by one. This is a favorite sport of Dominican guys who are lucky enough to run into a girl that plays the sport.

TWEEZERS?

OK Golo,

I'll bite.

Where are these Dudes "tweezering" those little suckers from?

Nice bar game for young healthy people. Maybe they ought to try darts instead of matches. :(

YUK :(
