Apparently some are saying that the curfew on Wednesday the 6th ( 3 Kings day ) is 12 noon - just like Saturday and Sunday. According to them there is a video with the President cancelling all gatherings and announcing the change in curfew for this day only. I haven't seen this so can only report what I have been told.
The holiday was officially moved to today. I haven't heard of any change in the posted curfew hour of 5pm for today*(?).

5am to 5pm seven days a week sounds likely.

I think the 5am to 12 noon was just to get through the holiday period with fewer big social gatherings.

People will adjust and big crowds in the supermarket should lessen as people get accustomed to the new schedule.

I am wondering how the guys and street girls are managing. 5 pm to 5 am is a long time, and 12 noon to 5 pm is even longer. Unlikely that most spend the entire time in bed. Do we need to start stocking books and board games in our rental apartments:)

While a firm supporter of the Abinader election, and progress made during his short time in office, his administration is appearing very sophomoric the last two weeks.

This is not the first go around of 5a to 5p.
Rewind the tape to shortly less than a year ago.......March/April 2020.
There will be those that fret, but the good news is that they can go back within the Coronavirus in DR threadline and see how WE ALL SURVIVED.

Sorry - I was asking about the supposed change to Wednesday the 6th. I was told that the curfew was changed to 12 noon on Wednesday.

Which shows that if you have to spell it out like that, it is just too complicated.
Libre Transito doesn't make sense to mr either, just leave the toque de queda at the time of the libre transito or if they insist on libre transito just apply it everyday.
Libre transito is giving you time to get home after everything else is closed down.

On the days there is no libre transito, be home by curfew.

Yeah and that didn't flatten any curve either. The natives are getting restless, flat broke and desperate

Every pharmacy I've used with home delivery has Verifone service just like gas stations.

Just as McDonald's, Pizza Hut, Burger King, Domino's Pizza, many supermarket chains, and local restaurants with home delivery.
These services, are oh so 2020ish. ;)

Libre Transito confusion makes a lot of sense to me.

I can see it now, the PN stops ya after 5pm but before 7pm while you are "in transit"
and the conversation goes something like this -

PN: "Where ya headed to gringo?"
PN: "Ya know the curfew started at 5pm today."
GRINGO: "Well I was told I can be in transit until 7pm."
PN: "No, the curfew is 5pm, wait right here please"
- walks over to the other officer then returns to your vehicle -
PN "ok, we're going to let you off with a warning this time
and a small fine"

While returning home from my Navidad retreat to Barahona and having lunch this afternoon in Santo Domingo, I overheard a table full of local professionals speaking out against the current curfew.
Their position was that if the government wants to take away the freedoms of Dominicans between the hours of 5pm and 5am, while continuing to bend over backwards to cater to foreign tourists, than Dominicans should shut down the entire nation themselves by going on strike across the pitch and not report to work, regardless of profession.
24 hour strike by and of the people until the curfews are 100% disengaged.
Although I believe they may have been disgruntled PLD members, I can't say that I blame them.
Many have called for Dominicans to rise up against the previous, current, and possible future restrictions placed upon them........and while I may stand in solidarity with some of these sentiments, all I wish for is a peaceful resistance.
Nobody wins through violence.

The goal of the DR government is to get business back to AI resorts because they are the biggest potential money maker for the tourism business. Of course AI's are suffering, but the government is focusing on getting back their business as much as possible.
Have you ever thought a AI resort... is the same as a cruise ship, with the same virus problems..
