"chuleria": something cute, but when speaking about love matters it can mean that the signs of love are there (necking, hand holding) and the couple is in love

"chulear": to kiss, to caress

"dar la muela": what a guy does when he chats up a girl

"la nueve": your girlfriend

and the best compliment to give your girlfriend when she is all dressed up, "tu 'ta alante alante!" (estar alante is to be on the cutting edge of fashion).

Sorry, I should have defined these, I didnt realize it would turn into a guide to lovers!

a prop?sito, "amante" is not generally perceived as a term of endearment: when I was dating the woman who would become my wife at one point I referred to her as my lover, and she was offended, because it is generally used to refer to illicit affairs .

And just about any diminutive you can think of: mi corazoncito, mi amorcito, mi loquito, mi muchachito, etc. (Just be sure to put the right ending on the word)

As an equivalent to 'mi media naranja' have you ever heard 'mi media mitad'? The reason why I ask is because I know the expression but I have never heard the usage. I always hear 'mi media naranja'.

There's a salsa titled Mi media mitad by Rey Ruiz. I am sure you know it. The whole album actually is a treasure.

Lesley D, forgot all about that Rey Ruiz song! Good one. You know, I dont recall hearing it, but I wasnt aware of the term before, so I may in fact start hearing it now. After I learned about "media naranja" it seemed I was hearing it all the time.

Figurative usage-

Maco, I don't think you will hear the usage. I think it's extremely figurative, typical of songs where you can play on the words. However, it's clear that mi media mitad means mi media naranja.

This is where I find songs to be so helpful with language which I encourage for learning once chosen carefully. One can get exposure to expressions, figurative usage of Spanish, typical sentence structure (for the most part), grammar usage etc.

Ricardo900, here is one more for your list that I think is more common than what you listed:

'Est?n peleados' - in colloquial terms 'they broke up'

If you want to use 'anoche' you have to say 'se pelearon anoche' for it to make sense.

Remember you have to really understand what the verb 'estar' conveys in Spanish.

verbs is something you have to memorize and is tough when using the different tenses.

Not sure, I practice with Spanish, Peruvian and Colombian speakers. I usually get the stuff that normally didn't come in class from them.
