Defensive driving is a must in the Dominican Republic
As my friend says, "Never argue with a fool. An onlooker can't tell you apart". It's a quote from someone famous.
The traffic is Sosua has gotten so bad that people are becoming dramatically more rude when driving.
The DR must have sold another 30,000 motos in the last two months in this area because they are like mosquitos in the swamp.
And don't get me started on fat Jet Blue NY tourists on 4 wheelers, none of whom can't drive, ride some can barely even walk anymore - yet they are on the streets of Sosua chomping on stale cigars pretending to be 50-year old ballers and riding Chinese 4-wheelers.

You can’t! The attitudinal change is on you if you want to drive in the DR. First, realize you don’t have the right of way even if you do have the right of way. Second, being courteous will get you rear ended, broadsided, or killed. Third, the bigger the vehicle, the more ignorant the driver. Bus drivers and truck drivers being the most ignorant. Fourth, stop signs and red lights are meaningless. The rest you learn as you go.
Dominican drivers use their horn when they should be using their brakes.
Dominicans are the RUDEST drivers in the World today. They would sell their first born to gain ONE car length..................
The defensive driving in the DR that does work is to stay at home. Defensive driving when on the road makes the defensive operator vulnerable to aggressive drivers who take advantage of the situation. The aggressor notices a defensive driving character and will contest road territory just for the profit of machismo.

the traffic in Punta cana area is the same at least two a day become road pizza ....
there's so much building going on out here so many cement trucks and dump trucks and you can't stay behind them because the cement is coming out of the trucks as they're driving . also and boulders rolling off the trucks no one does anything it's gotten really bad here....
No not Egypt, but I've driven in Saudi and Thailand and while hectic and poor drivers, they are not as rude as DR
