Will be interesting to see how the price change will be for a drug that will have such a high demand globally. Look at insulin and look how much the price has sky rocketed meaning that many low income families simply cannot afford it and are trying to decrease the recommended dosage which can lead to people dying. It is not only the pharmaceutical companies that are to blame, we all know how governments around the world have their hands in the pockets of the pharmaceutical companies which in turn drives up the prices of insulin. Some States in the US are putting a cap on the amount a patient must pay per month in a step to reduce the costs for the patient but much more needs to be done. According to the Union of Concerned Scientists, the price of Humalog, a popular brand of insulin increased by 1,157 percent in 20 years, from 1996 to 2017. Now, although there is no comparison of a patient needing insulin for the rest of their lives to a vaccine against dengue, the one thing similar is global demand. What worries me is that when you have corrupt governments around the globe working hand in hand with pharmaceutical companies the price of this vaccine will become extortionate, especially in under developed countries where dengue is much more prone....this will be interesting to follow.
