Don't worry, I already warned the Dra that anyone coming to her from here is a total stranger, so she should treat them just like anyone else coming in off of the streets of Santo Domingo.

And remember. NEVER f*ck with a dentist. If you don't believe it, just rent the movie "Marathon Man" and think hard.....Is it safe yet???

If it's any consolation, Dra Henriquez is cuban, and graduated from the University of Havana.

That is very nice Cuban doctors and dentists have had access to some of the best educational systems in the world.Too bad she works only 3 times a week.I would love to speak on the phone with her,but all my attempts fail :(

This thread has got deja vu written all over it, we went through all of this once before. But, I'm going to say it again.

While most people have a very high opinion of Dr. Lepe and Dr. Santos in Puerto Plata, in my case, Dr. Santos gave me a root canal that took 7 visits to do, he stabbed a hole in my gum that has yet to heal(after 4 yrs), and the tooth has since fallen to pieces. Meanwhile, I still have the swelling that he was supposed to have fixed.

Now, the rest of you can start giving your success stories, and I believe you, but the guy truly screwed up my jaw, and I'm STILL paying to fix his damage.

I am now set to visit a chinese dentist on Ave. Independencia that a lot of expats tell me is an excellent dentist, and very reasonably priced. I'll give everyone an update once I've visited him.

Thx for warning. It is greatly appriciated.

Sorry, I've never heard of that hotel.

Her office is about 2 blocks above Ave. Independencia, and about 3 blocks east of Ave. Maximo Gomez. Any hotel in Gazcue or the Colonial Zone is less than a 5 minute taxi ride, which would cost RD$160. (US$5)

Calle Socorro Sanchez # 157, upstairs.

Japanese-- please

Whew, old post.

I finished all of my work. The dentist, Masahisa Yamashi-ta, is an excellent dentist, in my opinion. He did all of my dental work, and my some for my wife as well. (Excuse the hyphen in his name, the word police doesn't let me write his name without it..)

He is not cheap, however. Not as expensive as dentists in the states, of course, but more expensive than your run of the mill dentist here.

He did two crowns for me. One with three molars, and one with two. The cost was 60000 pesos, or about 400 dollars a tooth. That included the temporary crowns that were placed first.

I highly recommend him for the quality of his work.

ph. 809 689 2605

First-- he is Japanese... Second.. well, I went but ended up having to go to the Clinic Abreu to have three teeth extracted since Dr Yama****a spent an hour and could not get it out... Just warning those who are really used to high tech, American dentistry that it may be a shock.... BUT...

Anybody knows where to find Dra. Ena Rosa Henriquez? She has moved out of her house in Gazcue and it's for sale now.

(for a minute, Robert, I was tempted to say if you are that bored, get the news for Friday up and posted, hehehe)

Dra Henriquez is available to do your work. The amount of time it may take depends on several things, such as your general health and any heart conditions, glycemia, or other health conditions; your possible reactions to any of the root canals, the type or conditions of the roots of your teeth, your age,...

She did say that generally, dental work in the DR will cost about 1/2 of what similar work costs to be done in the US. If a crown requires a post, etc the cost will be more.

She will do her own exam, and the deep gum cleaning, and then give you an estimate on the crowns and root canals. If the root canals are straight-forward, she can do those straight off. If there are complexities to your root canals, she can immediately refer you to a specialist to do this work.

If you want a better cost estimate before travelling to the DR, you can send her your x-rays, and a panoramic mouth x-ray, and answers as to your health and any conditions, and your age, and any other things she should know beforehand.

Otherwise, if you want to come down, her schedule is open for the week of 12 June 2006. If you want me to call them and schedule your appointment, I am willing to do that for you, once you know when you will fly.

She also asked me what your $$ situation is, and I told her I don't know. She works on a cash basis (she does not accept any insurance from any patients, not just you - :) )

Dra. Ena Rosa Henriquez's office is located at Calle Socorro Sanchez # 157 (altos), Gazcue, Santo Domingo, and the office number is 809-688-6251. Her office is easily reached from any of the Malecon hotels, or from the Zona Colonial area.

Carlos i have been reading some of the boards and you have been a great help. Does this doctor have an e-maill address or website? thank you
