It's the amount that's on the INVOICE that matters. If the value of all them items you purchased is over $200, aduanas will tax you. It's very simple. Place separate orders for each item if the total goes above $200. Also, all items/packages go through aduanas regardless of cost and they all get opened.

And don't make the mistake of making separate purchases the same day thinking they will be shipped separately. I found that out the hard way. lol

It seems as if they can charge what they want and when they want.

I ordered an iPhone once and was charged 2000 pesos in taxes.
I bought a brand new MacBook last year and was not charged taxes.
I think some of the couriers are so focused on meeting shipping deadlines they don't do their due diligence and it works in favor of their clients.
