Canodromo / Listin Diario

The story of the day is the aggression against the Ombudsman Pedro Pablo Ulloa and media by traffic agents (Digesett) based at the Canódromo, the former dog racing venture today used for the storing of seized vehicles and motorcycles. As reported, the director of the Ombudsman Office and media from the Listin Diario newspaper and CDN (Channel 37) made an unannounced inspection visit to El Coco Vehicle Retention Center (El Canódromo) on 11 April. They went to see for themselves the denounced excessive amount of “junk” vehicles at the site. The Ombudsman had received numerous reports of citizens regarding the handling of their vehicles once they were sent to that center. When visiting the center, the public officer and his assistant and the media were violently impeded to do their job by the Digesett contingent at the site.

This was unreal. The videos of the altercations are disturbing. (BTW, the picture above gives an idea of the number of motorcycles there)

This picture here shows the grandstands from the back; there are more pictures of the grandstand here: https://listindiario.com/la-republi...canodromo-es-un-inmenso-deposito-de-chatarras

It's like the employees there are totally unaware about who the Ombudsman is and what they're supposed to do.

Somebody at this site didn't get the memo about free access. One cameraman was even sucker-punched while he was walking for no apparent reason.

Just WOW!. That problem can be solved. Sell all the motos and cars to a middleman, ship to Nigeria and they will all be functioning and running in 2 weeks.

Everything about the altercation is an example of why this country doesn't progress.

How does the ombudsman fit into that theory?
Thanks for clarifying, I was not referring to the ombudsman. That part is actually a good sign and hopefully continues to improve oversight of the governmental functions.

I meant the extreme defensiveness of the DIGISETT in not allowing a valid inspection and their subsequent actions with the physical assault.

And why Nigeria in particular?
having been there 30 plus times I know they are desperate for all things mechanical and will repair almost anything. While it not cost effective to repair certain things anywhere else in the world they have the available man hours to fix anything at pennies on the dollar
